Steiber was the most dangerous player on the field for us during his 60 minutes.

If Stieber walks because he's not getting playing time it would come in just behind the Boscovic saga as an indictment of the coaching staff. His instincts and performance on the attack are superb but, apparently, not appreciated.

Yeah, the constant obsession with attacking players being expected to play first rate defense all the time boggles the mind sometimes.

Who expects him to play first rate defense all the time?

Steiber floats. He's got skills, but I've never been convinced that this is the right team -- or even the right league -- for him. He doesn't shoot enough given the amount of d he plays. The play in MLS is too fast and physical, which makes his style a kind of luxury good in my opinion.

Its sad. ESPECIALLY after having had that experience of Bosko and not knowing what to do with him, picking up Zoltan was a fail.

Of course, a good coach might be able to cycle him in and use his different style to create a game changing wrinkle. A good coach might help United play more than one narrow style of play and Steiber could be a useful part.

Steiber is a symptom, not a cause of the problem.

Ben's desire to go low-block and high-block within 1 minute of each other values work rate over all other things. Steiber is one of those guys that paces himself and doesn't run around like a headless chicken, Boskovic was similar. Maybe we can dump Steiber this transfer window.

Yes, Benny ran around like a headless chicken and apparently favors players who do the same. Boscovic wasn't such a player and was let go, even though the quality of the team's play picked up as soon as he was subbed on. Stieber, to his credit, doesn't do the headless chicken thing either, and it - and his salary - may cost him his position on the roster, And that would be sad. Once Arriola is back I would like to see him on the left (as Berhalter does), with Stieber on the right. If this means Rodriguez sits for awhile, so be it. Or we could go with one of Canouse/Moreno, and keep Rodriguez and Stieber on the pitch together. Whatever, we should think long and hard before we unload Zoltan.
