And just letting them play, organizing, etc includes valuable life skills beyond the game.

Done - we are not ready yet either. Our first game is vs one of my old high school mates to at least we'll have fun. His kids team just won the USClub Regional so I may just close my eyes :cautious:

College kids are the best by far. They distribute the ball and really help the younger kids along. They take away a sense of leadership from the game - not just the time on the pitch. The younger ones can try the moves they see their favorite players perform without any sense of getting jammed. In most cases they are pushed to keep trying by their peers.

This is what really built passion for my daughter - recognizing all the hard work she put in by seeing for herself that she can keep up with college players from Valpo for example. One great boy from Inferno marked her in a game and they both played great - she came off mad at the end and I told her to get out there and high five that player because they both pushed each other to play better.

Then there is the fact I can sit back and have a cocktail and just enjoy with some of the other dads - we get to laugh at our kids as well - a bit less serious then a deep run at State Cup.

Tremendous! How did you locate/pay for space, get the word out?

Older kids leading the younger kids huge/smart. Very smart.

Word of mouth - un-organized - no cost for any player registered with a rec or travel program. My fields.

Third season and growing every year. I now have 3 other coaches working this - prefer to have at least one present in the event there is an emergency.

Actually beat them in the quarterfinals. So Hawks are on to the semi-finals.

Sloppy post by me. Sorry Wolves are the boys. Same organization.

ECNL finals is the event. Yes it is the semifinals/finals for that age group.

I heard Eclipse got a red card relatively early in the game (didn't hear whether the card was warranted or not), which I presume affected the outcome.

Dragging this out. Weather was just terrible this Spring. For clubs (and leagues if this is part of the mandate) who have these resources - it's fantastic!

This spring was awful and it does not look like that is going to change - likely to get worse. MRL for example needs to ensure that games for out of state teams can be played in indoor facilities - even if the times are shortened to get them in and out. There is just too much $$ and time to waste traveling to other states only to not play at all.

As I said - shits only going to get worse as far as weather is concerned. Sockers - or DA have done well to secure Canlan as a resource to ensuring those games go on.

True, but watching games at Canlan sucks imo. Games are so much better outside...

Yeah I agree. every team I have coached there plays terrible and as a spectator it just is hard to get into it. I think it's the sitting up top thing. I remember when Sockers brought a bunch of teams to McCook for a winter tourney and it was the same deal.

That said, better to have played the game then not at all.

34 Players for Open Play tonight. Campton, Eclipse, Defenders, Chicago Soccer Academy and Sockers FC Chicago all represented alongside high school players. We even had a few U13 players who came out for a try.

Hot and humid out but they had fun.

Don’t let the sockers find out. Kids will get expelled

No DA players. I know some of the coaches are well aware that some of their players are participating in this as well as other indoor activities. Like I said none are DA so I THINK there is no issue with it.

The club was on life support so anything will help. DOC is a great guy but that is a very competitive market. The BVD name may draw some people but results will be what keeps them.

No rec program.. Wheatland feeds into TC and everyone poaches from the Naperville Park District.

We are at NSA/BVB now. So far much enjoyable than out last club, better culture.
The DOC is a great guy.

Just glancing through the website, the club appears heavily focused on girls. Does it have a full boys component, too? Mind if I ask, ballpark, what you guys pay in fees and uniform costs (and if you expect that to change with the BVB name?)?

I think it about $2400 all in which is around the going rate in the Naperville area. It has a full boys component for the boys.

This move imo is to improve the boys side. They had a great turn out for the announcement in May.

If the branding means better training for my daughter I will be happy. Bottom line is I want her to be happy playing soccer which she wasn’t due to her former coach.
