Damn, that's about as good as it gets in terms of rumor confirmation. I honestly thought it wasn't worth thinking about until now. If we get Barella our midfield needs a demolition job, but I like this idea 100x more than Veretout.
Hasn't the hold been Barella? From what I understand they have had an agreement for a few days but Barella only wants Inter.

Not sure if this is how we'll lineup or not, or even what formation Fonseca really plays, however given the players we have and are rumored with, I think it should look something like the below - or at least how i would play em. Obviously Barella is a big maybe, and the Lyanco rumors just started but if we get them, that's not too bad.
agree. I know it's a pipe dream but if we could unload Pastore and Nzonzi and go with; Pellegrini, Cristante, Barella, Diawara, Zaniolo and Coric that would be a dream.
Il presidente Giulini a @SkySport: Avevo accordo con l’Inter per Barella sulla parte fissa dall’11 giugno. Mancavano solo i bonus. Poi sono spariti da 20 giorni. Ora ho chiuso un accordo con la Roma, ho accettato, intesa totale. Deciderà Barella, dopo 2 giorni di riflessione” 🔵— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 1, 2019 Wow so it is up to Barella then.
Just trying to fit em in. I wanna see Pellegrini and Zaniolo play together somehow. I'd love to see us switch from a winger formation to something more central and see how it goes. If not, I wonder how Pellegrini could play if he was on the wing?
Barella has it all to develop into a player of the mold of DDR. Thats our biggest selling point to him. Well, for 2 years he can be before we sell him.
Make your peace with it. We have 5 attacking midfielders and there is going to be a big rebalance. It was needed.
Totally fine with that. We definitely need to offload some players, just not Zaniolo and Pellegrini hopefully. If we do have them both come the start of the season, I'd love to find a working way to see them on the field together. Either way they should both see a lot of time even if they are rotating, however both of them together somehow would be great.
I'm not so sure about that. Go watch @Hustle and Flow video in the Other Teams thread about the evolution of the CAM. I think with Fonseca's style you'll see more of players that possess the ball skills, passing and vision playing wide. Zaniolo is just young but I think he has the skills and the speed to move into CM or out wide.
Left wing possibly as a floating playmaker but he does not have the skill set, dribbling ability, slickness to play as a right winger. We've seen him being played there for Roma and Italy U21 (He looked like a lost boy v Spain) just because we think he needs to start. Thats wrong and his form shows it. Yeah there are wide players for that role. Perotti types.
Presumably, one of the main goals this summer was to slash the wage bill. Just curious, have we done that yet? Seems we've done the opposite thus far. Start clearing out dudes out, Petrachi. With Spinny in the fold, add Kolarov to the list.
Zanilo looked lost as a CAM and winger at the end.. I think the kid is dog tired, he really needs a couple months off, IMO. The trend isn't moving wide players inside. It's taking physically superior AM and playing them wide and as AM, like Coutinho and De Bruyne. The game is moving to having a lot of players with speed, skilled with the ball and great passers in CM and wide. The game is changing and athleticism is becoming a bigger part of the game.
I wanted him so bad a few years ago when he went to Atalanta but at his age and with At. playing in the CL I doubt we'd pay what they want for a 31 year old.
