I think if you make a temporary hire just make the assistant interim instead of bringing in a panic appointment. They most likely wanted to hire a female but didn’t have any truly viable candidates so did this temporary hire to see how she does.

Any news at Ball state or St Francis?

It's just my opinion. Been around college athletics a long time. Actually know the AD that left. Just saying.

Any school that doesn't have someone installed yet has to do something in the next couple of weeks, right? I mean - the kids report at the end of July!

Those 3 programs have been set back years by not being active on the recruiting trail. I feel sorry for whoever steps in. IT's shame the administration has acted so slowly.

I was in an executive search firm for over a decade and the LSU situation follows a very normal business pattern.

If you are hiring a low level executive positiion and in the process there is turnover at the highest level, almost always the firm would suggest putting the lower level hire on hold. The real delay is when the new CEO (AD in this case) wants to bring in his or her own executive team that would oversee the hire we were initially consulting on. Then you get into real delays. In the interim, it is NEVER advised to temporarily promote from within and risk losing a top employee who you would later "demote" in their mind. You search for a former or temporary experienced exec at the inital position who can step in and keep the branch afloat.

The negative responses in this thread are similar to those of what you would see in the business community at the working level directly impacted by the non-hire (and more specifically by those who wanted the job initially).

Short term results may suffer, but the liong term approach is solid. Looks to me like LSU handled it very well and got lucky someone of her experience was around the team and in the area.

Gotta love the posters on anonymous message boards who want everyone to believe they are smart. This hiring process will set the program years.

    Timeline-
    Previous coach resigns Mar 29
    Previous AD resigns Apr 17
    Hire Interim June 25

You have a coach now coaching in a top conference who has no interest in the job, with an asst who is probably now pissed he was passed over by someone who hasn't coached for a couple of years. What motivation do you think the new coach has to be successful? And there are rumors she has another job that the admin is going to let her keep doing as well.

What message do you think that sends to the players about their importance that it took them less than 20 days to hire a new AD and they couldn't hire a soccer coach in over 2 months?

Seems like someone jealous they did not get a HC job this year.

You're telling me that you do not think the soccer will get better at ULL who has been at the cellar of the Sun Belt for years, or Oregon State who one 3 total games! Both programs hired people who have won A LOT of games in their careers.

You also stated that this was only based on soccer getting better or worse under them and not the program as a whole, so how does UIC to get better under a coach who has taken 3 teams to the NCAA tournament including the first time ever for MSU and 5 or 6 trips total in 6 or 7 years.

I agree MSU and Boston College have some big shoes to fill, I'd even throw Ball State in there; but inept, c'mon man. Don't worry maybe next year will be your year, keep sending out that resume.

Nicholls makes it official...Danny Free won’t have to go the season with the interim tag. Wonder how long they’ll give him.

Don't be salty because most likely named a buddy of yours on the list. Like I said just my opinion so don't get your panties in a bunch! If people on the list prove me wrong then I'll come back on here and tip my hat to them.

Regarding the Oregon State hire, can’t really say “he won lots of games”...he hasn’t won one game yet, believe he is a lifetime assistant

This list makes no sense, I do think there is a some bitterness there. You have people who have won games as head D1 coaches as Inept over some who have never been a head coach and are unproven and they are ranked as undecided.

I think all new hires are undecided until they have a few games and a couple of recruiting classes behind them.

Don't think its that. There is just no rhyme or reason. It's literally just your opinion. In fact it seems you just got on to give props to your buddies and blast people you don't like personally.

Why would the Indiana coach get a pass but the Oregon St, Mississippi St coaches get Fails? All of them appear to be assistant coaches at successful P5 programs with little to no head coaching experience got their head coaching start at the P5 level. You had MSU as a "FAIL!". Capital letters with an "!."

If anyone is salty it seems it would be you.

I’m guessing you’re pissed you didn’t get the ball state job. I think that’s a solid hire, plus you posted right after that hire. Unlucky dude maybe next time.

There are some other interesting predictions and I think you are fairly accurate on about half so we will see what happens.

Maybe you will get the Detroit job as I’m sure you applied for that one too.

Right, I’m the salty one. Not the person who just named 75% of the hires this year as fails or inept. Don’t throw your opinion out there of you are too sensitive for feedback.

He’s won a lot as an assistant, when you’ve been to the NCAA tournament with 4 different schools to me that is successful regardless your title. And let’s be honest, anyone with a pulse should be able to win more than 2 games (previously said it was 3) as the head coach at a pac12 school.

I've heard from some people very close to the program that it's been really bad there since she took over and this was almost a "when" it would happen not an "if" it would happen. Sounds like a really toxic environment.

This will be their fourth coach in five years. Sounds like an administration problem more than a coaching problem.

Nate goes to ND. Sinacola gets the head job, Nate gets head job at ND, Sinacola goes to ND, too.

This is the second coach in 2 years that was fired while Sammy was an assistant coach.
