'New Mutants', Other Fox Films Get New Release Dates Post-Disney Merger - Entertainment Weekly https://ew.com/movies/2019/05/07/new-mutants-ad-astra-fox-films-release-dates/ As the big Disney-Fox Hollywood merger of 2019 continues to play out, films from the Fox side that were once in limbo have found new release dates. Notably, The New Mutants, the horror-pegged X-Men spin-off starring Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams, has now been bumped for the third time to April 3, 2020. This was a big question mark considering the uncertain future of the X-Men franchise post-Dark Phoenix (which will still open on June 7) with the Disney acquisition. Meanwhile, Gambit (starring Channing Tatum) and three untitled Marvel movies originally scheduled from Fox appear to have been wiped clear from the current schedule. However, fans of Marvel will be the first to point out that this could simply mean that characters from the Fox-owned universe might transition to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are a number of untitled Marvel films from Disney on the calendar. The studio is still figuring out how all of these superhero properties will work and hasn’t made a decision yet on what that might look like. Also included in the schedule are dates for new Star Wars, Avatar and Indiana Jones films.
My revised rankings after having seen Jessica Jones season three: The Punisher Daredevil season two Daredevil season one Jessica Jones season one Daredevil season three Luke Cage season one The Punisher season two Iron Fist season two The Defenders Jessica Jones season three Jessica Jones season two Iron Fist season one Luke Cage season two
How do you have Luke cage season 2 ranked lowest? I swear some folks see The Punisher and go CraZy for it
I'm just Joshing you. I thought season 2 of LC was over the top and disconnected in many ways. Too much of Alfre Woodard's character doing crazy shit and yet getting away with it. Also, with regard to Bushmaster I think the shows should have realized there's no need to have all the main characters in every single episode. The primary villain can do with 8-9 episodes. I always break Luke Cage season 1 into A and B. A ends once Cottonmouth dies. Until that moment, it's the best Marvel show. Once he does, it becomes quite average to weak.
In an effort to beat out Avatar as the number one highest grossing movie Marvel has announced a re-release of Endgame with NEW AND IMPROVED after credit scenes...
The Punisher was crazy right wing propaganda yet great, In a way it was refreshing to see a Hollywood tv show with a different perspective,
The Punisher is basically "Death Wish" for the 21st century. Which was also accused of being a (far-)right wing fantasy. It's also a very well-made show and Jon Bernthal is a terrific lead.
Right, and they were both the bad guys, whereas on the other side you had a woman, a girl, an african-american, etc all fighting against the bad guys. I wouldn't call it some right-wing leaning show.
I think he right wing fantasy aspect of is more the super-violent vigilantism. That dynamic is a big part of the tension in the introduction of the character in "Daredevil" season 2.
There was also a lot of emphasis on the dangers of surveillance and government officials being out of control, plus an obsession with guns as objects of beauty, just look at the opening titles. I shouldn't have said propaganda but it was definitely a show coming from a libertarian bent imo. Yeah Bemthal is a terrific action lead.
Off-topic but what did you think of Death Proof? The Tarantino movie that tanked. Even though it was a clear indulgence and not for everybody I enjoy it when big name directors go ******** it and make the movie they wanted to see as a 14 year old boy. The stunts were incredible but like most people I don't really care that much about stunts. The reason I mentioned it is I dont think that many people are interested in 70's "grindhouse" nostalgia. I think the blokes making those movies have far more affection and nostalgia for those movies than punters do, I was really happy when the Hateful 8 came out as The Thing was one of my two my favourite movies when I was kid (along with 12 Monkeys) seeing Kurt Russell in a blizzard made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside but if I wasn't obsessed about The Thing for years Hateful 8 would seem like a very flawed movie, it didn't help that Channing Tatum starring was so heavily advertised, sometimes film studios do things that are so stupid I cant help but find them galling. I resent them for making me feel like the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.
There were quite a lot of influences for "The Hateful Eight" and having seen them does improve upon the experience. "The Thing" is one of them. One of its obvious other influences was "The Petrified Forest". Then a whole host of westerns were ransacked for plot details and visuals, chief among them "The Tall T" and "Man of the West". I didn't really care that much for "Death Proof". Parts of it were entertaining but the overall experience felt very disjointed.
