Even if that were true, and I’m not willing to concede it is, he creates the need for himself. If you had someone there who won the ball himself and started quick transition moves, would it really be less effective? Not that we have that guy I’m referring to in our pool.
Just crazy how bad it is and yet anyone who questions MLS/SUM is a crazy conspiracy theorist. Between stuff like that and the Glassdoor USSF article our Fed is pathetic.
And so? We've had lineups with varying quality and opponents of varying quality. What do we really know? The real tests are in the semifinal and final games. Curacao is not a test. It's a quiz. I think we can win this tournament. The challenge for Berhalter is to get past Curacao while not expending a lot of energy. There are only 2 days between the quarters and semis. Start your best squad against Curacao and you may suffer in the semis. Start your full second string and you risk elimination. The ideal strategy is in the middle.
Adams is more of a disruptor/destroyer type. Different kind of player. He is not going to sit back & control the game from deep with his passing. He has to get forward, disrupt, and yes, he'll make a play. But he is not an orchestrator at this point. And like it or not, Berhalter wants that type of player at DM/CM. I mean, a guy who could do both would be great, but I do not see Patrick Vieira anywhere around. Perhaps McKennie/Adams get there in 2 years, but right now, no.
Would this work for you? https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2019-06-26-fc-dallas-vs-vancouver-whitecaps-fc/feed The kid is also a better tackler than Bradley/Trapp.
I don’t think your giving Adams enough credit. I absolutely think he’s capable of controlling a game in the way your speaking of. Sure he is the destroyer type, but he also has a good touch and the ability to make accurate passes and through balls. I want to see him and Mckennie can do together. I’m sure it’ll be more fruitful than having Bradley paired with Mckennie.
Holden not only cared nothing about somebody else getting his knee/career destroyed, he didn't care if his own were destroyed. He's basically a vegetable.
I do not think so. He certainly did not play that way for NYRB and has not in Germany. He's no orchestrator at this point. Perhaps in two years he will be. But for now, Bradley is the guy at DM.
Bradley cant perform against high level pressure. If you want to compare Bradley vs. Adams against Curacao, you could have a case. We will not be meeting Curacao in the round of 16 in Qatar. Its not that Adams would be any worse than Bradley against Curacao: A win is a win. Would he sit on the ball for 5 seconds and send a diagonal pass to the full back for an easy cross and goal? Probably not because he is trained to let go of the ball much quicker than that because he plays in the Bundesliga. It's possible that would not give him the siesta time to hit that fullback for the cross. This is why Adams will not be making an appearance in the USMNT v. Curacao game but will be preparing for the UEFA CL instead (he's not injured). Bradley cant orchestrate a game vs. Colombia. All he can do is watch helplessly as Falcao rounds his blindside and puts the ball in goal. The only thing he can orchestrate is a defeat.
In the Carlisle interview, Berhalter said there were 3 components to that position; passing, stability, and activity. Berhalter said that he wanted stability and activity!
He hasn't ever really been asked to be an orchestrator. When the opportunity has presented itself though, he's shown an ability to ping a great long pass. If he ever gets a chance to play regularly in the 6, he'll displace Bradley pretty quickly, I think.
Based on the reviews, stoked I didn't bother to watch tonight. Been following the team since 1993. I don't think we've ever been this bad in that time. Certainly not during the Sarachan year. I can't believe that people are actually paying money (a lot of money) to go see the team right now - when putting the best team out there is clearly not the number one priority. Why would anyone spend money on this crap? And, no, I won't be watching us play Curacao. I've been a diehard fan since 1993, but I've basically quit watching. Didn't watch Jamaica, Ven, Guyana, tonight. Did watch TnT. And, I wouldn't walk across the street to actually spend my hard earned money to watch them. Anyone who does is crazy, imo. Or, has too much money and too little to do.
Nine point, no goals conceded, +11 GD. Whether you hate Egg or miss Klinsmann to death, so far so good. We're not playing good soccer, true, but have we ever?
very solid job of "getting away with it". we were lucky (panamas b-team has horrible finishing) to not get burned playing lovitz so high, leaving miazga and gonzalez as the only two defenders back. mihailovic putting that ball so far behing lewis(?) after winning the ball, having that 3 on 2 was criminal. we throw around a lot of "so-and-so shouldnt even be in the team" but mahailovic? hes not CLOSE to ready, ill say it that way. and being on fks? just freaking yikes... that one wrinkle of lovitz playing so high both exposed our cbs and- im sure it was meant ot free up lewis- but it neutralized him. thats my one big "coaching" complaint. overall good enough. i dont think i was surprised by anything good or bad, all things considered.
or that he constructed this roster pretty poorly. we are, as a fanbase, lets say "conflicted" on bradley/ream/gonzalez but the first dozen or so pick themselves. are we really gonna hand out credit for starting a mckennie over a roldan?
Omar was the worst player on the field, by miles. MILES. Berhalter, you were a center back: you've gotta see it. He's slow and terrible with his feet and clunky. And a bad passer. And no vision. Prone to stupid and costly mistakes. I kept hoping he would switch with Miazga (or just get subbed) because Panama just kept hitting down his side. Regarding the rest of the team/game, I was moderately satisfied overall. I thought Roldan actually stood out for his aggressiveness and work rate on both sides of the ball. He created several good chances that came to nothing. Mihailovic is disappointing. Had a few "yeah, that's nice!" moments but more "oof" moments. Maybe it's just unpolished 20 year old. Jozy wasn't involved enough for lots of the game (first half particularly). He really battled with Machado all night. Very good finish--quick reaction time and clean, solid contact, ball goes in the net, game winner. I hear there are complaints about this? Johnson didn't have much to do but looked comfortable and competent. Really like Reggie cannon. Stock up on him for sure. All 3 subs were unproductive. I think I noticed Boyd once, Pulisic two or 3 times, zardes once. Surprised by that.
All due respect. TnT were almost beaten by the Guyana rotated squad. Had Guyana started Harriot and the young cm, who both came on at half, they probably win. There is absolutely no sense of optimism from scoring 10 goals on 2 of the 3 worst performing teams of the tournament. Let me repeat.....10 of our 11 goals came against TnT and Guyana. @Suyuntuy I believe it was you who first used the term 'social engineering' to describe the setup from camp cupcake. This is a brilliant description of what is still going on. GB used his strongest squad vs 2 of the weakest teams in the tournament. Only Cuba is weaker. No rotation going from mighty Guyana to TnT. I do not see Panama as a top 5 team in Concacaf, currently. I have Jamaica, Canada and possibly Honduras over them. I am happy that they were able to handle business and that GB hasnt taken anything for granted. I dont think Curacao will be a big test. They really look porous defensively and probably shouldn't have got through.
