Hold crap ... you're right. I can see how this group was fun to watch for neutrals, and I'm somewhat pissed at Honduras, but a 4-0 blowout is mostly just El Salvador returning to its previous form at the worst moment and reminding me that, in the words of a former Shawshank inmate, "hope is a dangerous thing." Silver lining - at least Andres Flores gets to return to Portland early.

I've been tuning in and out of the game, but each time I've watched (about 70% of the play), I don't think I've seen the Panama keeper touch the ball with his hands. Sean Johnson on the other hand...
You kind of see why NYCFC never played Jonathan Lewis. All he has is the quitck cut to the endline and cross.
For the first 55 minutes, Panama seemed to have a slight edge over the United States, but USA really stepped up its play from 56 minutes on. A berth in the semifinals seems likely for this team.
2019 Gold Cup Quarterfinals Times are ET Saturday, June 29 Groups A/B (Houston, TX) Haiti v. Canada 7:00 pm FS1/Univision Mexico v. Semifinals are July 2 and 3, the Final is July 7.
So we're not going to be playing real country but a Dutch colony with a population of 160,000. And people say the Gold Cup isn't worth it.
I think it's obvious that Panama wanted no part of Curacao...otherwise they'd have put forth a better effort against USA!
Well, we can bash Curacao, but many of their players were born in the Netherlands and play there. GK- Eredivisie RB- Eredivsie CB- Eredivsie CB- Eredivsie LB- Erste divise MF- EPL MF- USL MF- Eredivisie FW- Cyprus (playing in Europa League) FW- Eredivisie FW- League Two
They also have some world-class names. Jimbertson Vapor. Charlison Benschop. Jairzinho Pieter. Zeus de la Paz.
Did it bug anyone else when the match commentator said that the U.S. hadn't played Curacao since 1985 or whatever when they were called Netherlands Antilles. Curacao was not called Netherlands Antilles, they were a part of the Netherlands Antilles along with Aruba, Bonaire, and some smaller islands. It bugged me. You wouldn't say the US hadn't played Ukraine since they were called the Soviet Union, would you? I should go back to not listening to the commentators.
Well, my extremely pedantic response is that FIFA and CONCACAF consider Curacao the continuation of the Antilles team the way Serbia is considered the continuation of Yugoslavia or Russia the continuation of the USSR team for record keeping sake.
