It would be massive if we could hold on to Eriksen, with Arsenal losing Ramsay, Chelsea Hazard and United potentially losing Pogba and De Gea. Funny, all the talk over the years has been about our top players being picked off, but it happens more often to our rivals.
And one of the other big names - PSG - it is interesting that Nymar wants away. And Mbappe wanting away, too, does not bode well for them in attracting the top names. That really leave Bayern and Juve as the only other options (as Levy would be foolish to sell to an EPL team).
this from one of the main ITKs on SC: The next two weeks will hopefully define this summer's transfer window. We want them in early and have certainly been looking to do just that. Problem is these are all players wanted by other clubs, and unlike Madrid we are not at the top of the food chain, so things innevitibly(sic) take a bit longer. We have been working on the players in question though for some time, and I'm told are all keen on a move to us. The names this time round are pretty much already out there ... I read that and thought to myself, if I could find someone foolish enough to take it, I'd bet a handsome amount that two weeks from now nothing will have happened. It was posted on June 10th.
DiMarzio: Ndombele to Tottenham all but done https://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnati...ombele-tottenham-dimarzio-nearly-complete-omg
The Guardian is also reporting Spurs have made a £55 bid for the player. Interesting stats on the player from Football London: His ability to cope when pressed largely stems from his dribbling proficiency. In all competitions this season, he averaged 5.05 dribble attempts per 90 minutes. That figure is unique for a central midfielder and for perspective, Eric Dier averages 0.47, Victor Wanyama 1.67, Harry Winks 2.01, and Christian Eriksen 2.05. Despite attempting more dribbles per 90, Ndombele's success rate is also higher than any Spurs midfielder, at over 80%. He makes more forward passes per 90 than any other Tottenham midfielder, as well as making more passes to the final third.
The Guardian is also reporting we are close to signing young Jack Clarke from Leeds for £11.5 million.
So Ndombele the new Dembele? Making it easy on the fans, at least. Not official yet, but seems very close. Jack Clarke is in London for a medical. One for the future.
I'm less convinced of this by the video. Something about it looked like he was great of getting into and out of trouble, but not necessarily at finding great passes. When I hear someone has a high number of dribbles, I wonder if that's actually a good thing. Don't we greatly admire the teams that one touch pass the ball rapidly around the pitch?
These guys do a pretty good statistical analysis of him, among other players. A little Moneyball-esque, so it's right up my alley.
L'equipe is saying it's done. Guardian says only personal terms to be agreed. ... and still we wait. Jack Clarke will be loaned back to Leeds for the season.
Luke Amos is on loan to QPR for the season. I didn't realize that he had blown his ACL whilst on loan (to Stevenage) last fall and missed almost all of last year. But he was in the first team for our tour last summer (and some other friendlies) and looked really quite good. Good luck to him and QPR in the year to come.
Both Clarke and Ndombele announced on the club website yet neither are posing with Poch's arm around them so I don't believe it. /s
