There certainly seem to be one group of people who are fantasists Rep. Burgess on conditions in migrant camps: "You know what? There's not a lock on the door. Any child is free to leave at anytime, but they don't. You know why? Because they are well taken care of." https://t.co/uPealDEBtU— MSNBC (@MSNBC) June 25, 2019
Is this all because he said Khomeini with an O instead of Khameini with an A? Or did he make a reference to the Iranian leader from 1979, like talk about hostages, in which case, yeah, he doesn't know that guy is dead, not to mention not having the common sense to realize a man who was old 40 years ago is going to be dead now. Let's compare a few key moments from 2009-10 to 2017-18. On Obamacare, Nelsen and whatever Lieberman was at the time undermined Obamacare. They weren't unanimous, and they respected the filibuster. They respected blue slips and all the rest. Compare that with McConnell's Senate. No Democratic House member from 09-10 acted like Devin Nunes. I could add more examples, but you get the point...Congress capitulated to Trump 17-18. Why wouldn't they have continued to do so 19-20? Your strongest counter is the 3 senate GOPs who saved Obamacare. Fair enough. And that's a pretty good counter. OTOH I would point out that Obamacare was such good legislation* that the GOPs literally had no replacement plan despite promising it for nearly a decade by the time of the vote. *I'm using a centrist/center-right definition of "good" here. Obviously liberals have issues with it. But the GOPs' place was to repeal it and return to an untenable status quo ante, because Obamacare was a market based, neoliberal plan. It wasn't THAT resounding. They gained Senate seats last November.
@American Brummie what's so wrong with this post? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/trump-presidency-tweets-too.2081604/page-108#post-36859206 The Supremes did some pretty onerous crap in 2018, and there's no real improvement now. The big things are going to be the census case(s) and the gerrymandering case(s).
@American Brummie https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...stwhile-lawyers.2083526/page-94#post-36720213 This post was basically a prediction dependent on the GOPs keeping the House. Seems fairly solid if overwrought if, to pick one example, you compare how the Senate is acting regarding the Mueller report vs. the Dem controlled House.
Your response to "stop peddling conspiracy theories" is to say that the website is dying, therefore let's just enjoy the party. Huh.
@American Brummie https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...stormy-weather.2080745/page-292#post-36516986 Positing a back channel between Putin and Trump is, to you, a crazy conspiracy theory? That post is from April 2018. That was before the secret Trump-Putin meeting in Finland, right? If I'm right about the timing, you've gotta take an L on that one.
@American Brummie https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...it-hits-the-fan.2087349/page-61#post-37218045 I'm guessing this is about that crazy dude who sent out a bunch of bombs by mail. Looks like you win this one.
No, he's disagreeing with you assertion that "It is a major problem with this website that you are able to say whatever you want, fact-free, and face no consequences."
You know exactly what is wrong with that post. You know, you have to know, because you're not an idiot, and yet you've decided that defending people who peddle conspiracy theories is much more important. We had no constitutional crisis last year. None. This is pathetic.
Exactly. Florida rewarded Trumpiness. Too many voters are still prepared to support the vichy GOP, or at worst not use their vote to zero it out.
Then blame the Republicans who are doing this, not anybody else! There is zero evidence to support your assertion that centrists and third-party voters support Trump. Reliable voters who voted third-party in 2016 voted for Democrats in 2018. What you're doing is what you would have attacked Tea Partiers for doing a decade ago, and you don't care at all. This is pathetic.
It's a post from July 2018. It seems like the context is that Senator Shelby didn't care about Russian interference. The Russians did try to interfere. They weren't as impactful, so far as we know at this moment. Certainly the USSC didn't do anything to make our government care about Russian interference. Certainly our federal elected officials didn't work to stop it. At the same time, let me point out that if in a year's time we have strong evidence that Russia swung the Florida senate seat and the Georgia governor's race, such a revelation wouldn't come out of nowhere.
They half rewarded him while also giving voting rights to a million people. Of course the GOP cant have that as they likely lose Florida so they added a pol tax and denied voting rights to those same people. GOP always undermines the will of the voters.
Don't you think you are getting a bit over excited about all of this? I don't owe you a response to the accusation that "my conspiracy theories are a big problem for the site"
Actually, you do. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/no...you-hope-to-thrive-on-the-p-ce-board.1976490/
It was your opinion not mine. I simply ventured to suggest this dying website has rather bigger problems
Some people don't seem to understand this forum is more akin to a pub than to a committee establishing policy. A desire to control what other people say and do is neither healthy nor normal. It's narcissistic. Can you imagine going into a pub and saying "unless everything you say is based on demonstrable evidence, which I will demand from you, you must leave"? If not the owner of the pub, you will eventually find yourself talking to your pint of beer and no one else. If the owner of the pub, you will find yourself without patrons very quickly.
The website's problems aren't your concern, they're not my concern. Telling the truth and trying to live life based on evidence are our concerns. If BigSoccer shut down tomorrow, would you go peddle conspiracy theories elsewhere? And why?
Is that the little gremlin in his defective little brain looking out, saying 'What the FECK am I doing in here?'
