This is generous. He has been sloppy with the ball on several occasions. That said, his physical talent and stamina is remarkable - it simply looks on the field that the game (and his limbs) are moving faster than he is processing things. Have to hope that with more time playing at this level the game slows down for him. Cardona was fantastic the first 60m or so, but then I felt we blew a couple of counters because he was more interested in embarrassing Paraguayans than keeping the ball advancing...
we could very well end up playing Uruguay next round, literally the worst opponent we could get aside from Brazil
We won, we are healthy and fully rested, and we did not get any suspensions. Al in all a great group stage.
well like i said i literally only saw from the 70th minute onwards and Cardona tried to do silly individual plays like 3 times and lost the ball all three times. I love el guajaro been watching him since he broke through at Junior but he's still very immature.
Unless Japan beats Ecuador by a certain amount of goals and Chile does the same against Uruguay although I don't see this happening. And I honestly think whoever wins tomorrows match is the opponent that we should avoid so it wouldn't be too bad if we faced the loser of Chile vs Uruguay.
not really much more to ask is there? just occasional finishing problems which is expected from colombians
yep, kinda irritating right? if we get through them though I think that would probably cement our status as a favorite to the title.
If we're lucky whoever we face gets a good amount of their players suspended in the match tomorrow. Again if one of those two I prefer the loser for obvious reasons or if they draw and they have to sit out a lot of those players.
To me, a beaten down Chile is not the same kind of monster as a beaten down Uruguay... Either way, as Crzd says, to be the best you have to beat the best.
Honestly, if we continue to advance, we're most likely going to play both of them. In that event, I'd rather play Uruguay first. The confidence would be at an all-time high, and we'd have gotten through the more physical sides of the tournament...
That's a thing I've noticed about our squad; they're not afraid of who they go against and they seemingly always challenge anyone physically when fighting for the ball. They also spend less time touching the ball and immediately turn around to run with it. That's quite different than when we were under pekerman. I do think that these guys will make us proud.
Happy with our overall style of play today. We had the game in control and maintained solid possession. My only critique was near the box we either had a bad first touch or held on to the ball too long. Hope we can be more clinical on Friday and put more shots on goal. All the players today showed they can be starters at any time. My only question is 1. Start Arias or Medina on Friday? I would like to see Medina redeem himself from 2013/14 and I’m sure that’s on his mind. But if I had to decide I would likely stick with Arias.
That's just wrong. Sucks for the organizers. Though I guess the hosts just want best path for Brasil.
