Well we still have a chance. Let's hope Denmark doesn't beat Serbia by 3 or more goals. Also please, Romania beat France. What worries me is Romania and France might decide to play draw which will send them both through.
Also if France beats Romania by 1 or 2 goals then we're out since Romania already has 8 goals scored to our 6. Doesn't look good. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_...1_Championship#Ranking_of_second-placed_teams
Di Biagio can ******** off and die, how the ******** can spain hammer poland for 5 but italy cant even get a goal against them. Also i love how Italy dont get the easist group....99% of the host nations in any tournament get a favorable group...thats just that uefa/fifa bias against italy
I hated how he kept Adjapong on for 80 min even though Poland were in the box the entire time and Adjapong sucked.. Bonazzoli looked lively today and Zanioli is not in the best form. Well, it's probably over now anyway.
I saw the end of the Romania-England match and it looked like a home game for Romania. How many Romanians are there in Italy lol. I think England were the bookies favorite too. They have some good players. Forza Romania!
Di Biagio is a piece of shit. No cohesion. Adjabong one game, Calabresi another, Demarco one game, Pezzella another. Locatelli in after sitting on the bench two games. WTF is he doing? You can't just interchange pieces like that. Gigi is all over the place. Gigi has no command of this team either. Kean and Zaniolo blow off the pre-game meeting today. So, Gigi suspends them. They clearly don't respect Di Biagio. At least Gigi did the right thing and benched them. Fckin Divas. You have to EARN it....greatest isn't given to you. Wish more of our players were like Chiesa.
Italy out, and not undeserved. I don't think many of these players will play for the NT now this under 21 cycle has closed.
For as long as I remember, the youth teams never really amounted to much on the senior team with maybe the exception of 1986 & 2004. The youth teams for most countries but especially as far as the (Senior) Italian National Team is concerned, is overrated....
Yeah that comment was a bit weird considering a handful of them have already been capped at the national team level lol There’s still good players on this team. Losing in some tiebreaker format doesn’t change that.
Pellegrini, Chiesa, and Barella were great again today. You can't knock them. They are outstanding players and they have their heads on straight. I don't know what the divas Kean and Zaniolo were thinking. Too busy to show up for the pre-game meeting? WTF
Yeah I often wondered just how much correlation there was between success at the youth level transferring to the senior team. Then again we did have good U21 teams in think in the early 2000s and won the World Cup later on so that kinda worked out for us. I think it’s just when you have a senior team with very talented players even if you are kicking ass on the youth level you not only have to be super talented but u have to supplant the person that’s already starting for the national team. And I think that’s where it can be tough to break through
Yes, but we Italians tend to hang onto certain players too long. We basically were forcing Barzagli not to retire instead of working to develop Romagnoli and Rugani into the lineup. It's really too bad we are in this position of hoping Romania win. We have only ourselves and Gigi Di Biagio to blame. I do think there is some real talent on this team. It just was not realized. In a short tournament, every game counts and the Azzurri didn't take Poland seriously enough. Basically one goal sank them. Spain broke Poland down today because they stretched them wide and took their chances. We allowed them to cluster in the middle and easily clear our long balls. One thing I will say though is that this team really can supply the Senior side with some upgrades. I still think they are the best group of talent at this tournament...too bad it may be wasted.
Question: Why did Italy lose to Poland and why are they going to be eliminated from the tournament? DING, DING, DING and the correct answer is for all their dominance Italy failed to create enough clear cut chances and lacked creativity through the midfield. When sides put 10 men behind the ball its very difficult to break them down by speed & dribbling. Chiesa terrorised his opposing full back over the 90 mins but the best chances came when he cut back balls for other players. Italy U21 and senior are too predictable and will be easily outcoached by intelligent managers.
Would be nice, maybe just once in a while, for you to watch games that you comment on. Chiesa is going to become your new Verratti. It's so obvious. You get it wrong early on, but you will fight tooth and nail to the end no matter how much credibility or costs you. And for that, I thank you. Reading your "insights" over the years has provided endless entertainment.
It's a good sign when teams like Poland and Belgium are bunkering down with 10 men. It means you have some talent and they are scared. It means you can hurt them. The talent is there, but as I've said, these guys played so little together. Hard to drag everyone together for 2 weeks and expect magic....especially when your CT tinkers with the lineup all the time. The reason we lost to Poland was because we didn't stretch them horizontally and they just bunkered in the middle. They also played with the lead well. It happens. When that does happen, you need either great wing play or someone in the middle of the field to unlock it with precision passing (ie. Tonali and not Mandragora).
It is easier to teach bunker ball and get your players to use that system even with just two weeks than it is to make sophisticated offensive plays. And we are not talking about seasoned players here.
they are talented at what they do but they have obvious limitations. If Italy has pretentions to titles they need to be able to break down stoic defences.
