I'd take the data from those London-based American-owned companies with a grain of salt. For one, they don't have real assets; two, they are valued at under $5 million; three, they have from six to nine actual employees; and four, their data is obviously geared to the US market (no one outside us cares about them).

Frankly I have no idea how they make their money, since all their collected stats are public.

He hasn't proven it against elite competition, true, but he's 21 and starting in the Championship. He's plenty good enough for CONCACAF competition and hopefully will progress. We don't have many options at left back right now.

Everyone in the conversation is flawed, so Robinson is the natural default choice because he's the youngest.

It would be great if someone could make a move and really stand out from the rest of the pack.

i think the defult should be the one who has proven the most - fabian johnson.

if not him, then the one who can actually defend the best - whoever that is.

I agree, but he has 3 caps in the last 2 years, and none since September 2017. He's unofficially retired as far as I'm concerned.

As far as defending goes, they're all kind of shit at it.

Wigan Today's player rating for Antonee Robinson from the end-of-season match against Millwall: "8 - Another fine performance from the in-form youngster who, after overcoming injuries, must wish the season had another couple of months to run." Wigan keeps a clean sheet and the club ends the year in 18th after flirting with relegation. It will be interesting to see what next year brings for Robinson. Baines is getting long in the tooth - does Everton have other left back options?

Lucas Digne has started pretty much every game for Everton at LB and he's been a revelation.

To further emphasize this, Digne was just named their player of the season.

Robinson's future, barring a Digne sale, likely lies somewhere else.

Robinson is under contract until 2021, so he could be looking at another loan next season.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't go out on loan next season. Maybe a better Championship squad. Some team fighting for promotion that can move the ball around a little. Regardless, unless Everton wants him on the bench as backup (unlikely) he'll ask for and get a loan. A smart team might try to buy him now, realizing he's cheaper than he will be but I think Everton hope for another good loan and then cash in.

    Interview:

    https://sbisoccer.com/2019/06/robinson-reflects-on-wigan-loan-eager-for-everton-opportunity

“The next goal for me is to kick on towards the Everton first team. I’ll be going back for pre-season fighting fit and raring to go. The manager’s been in touch with me, he keeps telling me what I need to work on and stuff. He’s been pleased with me for what I’ve done this season so I don’t see why he wouldn’t give me a chance next season.”

Here is the link for the original interview.

As always, please try to read the links of those that actually do all the work - arrange the interview, speak to the player, and write it up. Clicking on their links is more important than the links that just take ALL those quotes and "recycle" them.

Supporting the original work IS VERY important on so many different levels

A good move IMO. Wigan clearly want him, so the starter LB slot will be his to lose, while they probably won't struggle as much this season and he should get more opportunities to develop his all-round game. The coach is good and he was very happy there, saying he'd definitely recommend it as a loan destination.

If he feels he's too far down the depth chart at Everton, it'll be a good showcase for him and bids from other EPL clubs/promotion challengers will come if he shines.

Be interesting to see if there's a sell-on clause. If there is, it'll mean that Everton see things developing that way too.

2 million pounds isn't going to get it done. Not even with a sell-on clause.

Robinson still has two years left of his contract (until summer 2021) so they can afford to wait until next summer.
