I haven't done one of these in a while. I'll go with this: -------Pulisic-Jozy-Boyd -------Arriola-McKennie ------------Roldan Long-Miazga-Zimmerman-Lima --------------Steffen I'd really like to see someone other Bradley and Trapp at DM, and Roldan seems like the next best option, although I think it's unlikely to happen. Arriola had some success in a more central role for DC before Rooney came in and he has the energy needed for the way the role has been playing for us. This gets Pulisic space out wide and hopefully frees him up from doing some of the tracking back he was doing last game. Arriola might be best as a utility player this cycle which is good to have, so giving him run in multiple roles, can show if he can do that. I'm really over Ream and just wanted anyone else there. This might also be a good game to rest McKennie, but the other options aren't great. If Jozy can't go for whatever reason, would rather have Morris that than Zardoz.
Sitting at Allianz Field Tuesday evening watching TNT-Panama, TNT looked completely clueless on offense. Clue. Less. As in a "let's dribble around the midfield for a while and hope magic happens" level of clueless. Even when they were down 2-0. If we lose, Berhalter deserves to get fired right there on the field.
He'll probably get promoted to management, like the guy in Office Space was after the performance review.
Peter Principle ... screw it up ... get fired ... then get put in charge of the committee to hire your replacement ....
I am not making an argument that Egg is the best manager for USMNT -- I would have been as excited as any fan if Tata had chosen to lead our squad instead of El Tri. I am just summarizing comments he has made in the lead-up to this tournament specifically about things he would change from his first few games. The validity of your theory (just using your word, not trying to spin) will be in plain sight to all of us now that we have games "that really matter."
Sounds about right. I bet this is what Berhalter trots out - with the possible exception of Omar Gonzalez replacing Miazga.
If our CBs are not on the same page, we could run into trouble. There will be ZERO cover from our #6 in this game. Trapp/MB will be jogged past. This might be the first game GB actually has to coach tactically. Would be a good time to show me something because he has been disappointing to me so far.
look, im as "against" those two as anyone but we are talking about professionals here. dedicated, passionate, consumate pros. ...trinidads attackers are going to RUN past them.
Haven't posted in ages... I'll never forgive Omar for that awful own goal that cost us a World Cup spot. Was never a big fan of his but come on, that clearance was just pathetic. The fact that he's on the roster still is insane.
Who cares how it looks (and not implying that you do)? Any emphasis on style of play is wasted energy and given all the public press, it does appear that we want to appear stylish under Stewart/Berhalter. Baseline for the game should be the 2-0 victory we had over TNT at home in the Hex.
I support any Gold Cup lineup that includes Bradley as the starter. Adams is out and McKennie will never be considered for the #6 during this tournament. Bradley does NOT belong with the MNT moving forward. Keep playing him though because as each opponent becomes more challenging they will all continue to expose MB90 as the weakest player on the pitch. I WANT a Mexico / USA final with MB90 as the starting #6 for the first time in my life...his final swan song.
Bradley was the backup to Trapp as recently as 3 weeks ago. What changed? Trapp played poorly twice, Bradley play poorly once (against Guyana, lowest rated player on team according to espn). Why is he penned in as starter now? Just because Trapp was that bad?
There are a lot of players on this roster that will give MB90 a run for worst player. Zardes took that prize vs Guyana. Trapp will always be Trapp, no thanks. Omar and Ream are still in the hunt. When MB90 goes he can take Trapp with him. We all know what we get with him. It will be time to fully transition that position moving forward. BTW, what happened to all of the MNT has no wingers talk? As of today we can start CP and Boyd. Have Arriola as backup waiting for Weah (and others). Isn't about time we figure out who are top 2-3 strikers are? (not named Altidore)
Not sure why Omar is on this roster to be honest. I always loved the guy but he seems more a liability then ever for our national team. I hope Gregg isn't going to trot him out there vs. T&T just for personal "revenge" or "redemption" or whatever. Something in my gut tells me that is exactly why Greg brought him in.
