Incidentally, ever since someone mentioned Arriola is starting to look like Eden Hazard, I cannot unsee it. Every time I see him, I keep thinking about it. Then he does something football-related, and the illusion is disturbed briefly.
So do many players in my rec league. I do not understand how someone can rise to this level in today’s game with a very poor touch.
A very minor point that might piss people off by happy that Djordje got some minutes and he looked good. He needed that after a seriously shit week. He's a good young player but needs to get his head straight. He'll be relegated from the MNT once Pomykal develops, but he'll be a role player/emergency sub in midfield. /also the Fire need him not to suck.
If we had everyone healthy, what I’m thinking our best team would be: ——Sargent—-Soto—— Pulisic———————Boyd ——Adams—McKennie—— Lima————————Yedlin ——-Brooks—Miazga——- ————Steffen—————
Thought that the back line had issues. Didn't take space well and were forced into trying to make difficult passes.
Walker Zimmerman turns in another solid and underappreciated performance. His name should be written into the lineup in permanent marker.
Not great when our ideal back line still scares me. If we're going to promote the u-20s I'd like a more developed/shaper Dest. I'd love to move on from Yedlin, to be honest.
We're both poorly coached and have a limited pool. Both, not one or the other. I marvel at how technically substandard most of our players are. Mo Edu correctly pointed out about errant passes in dangerous areas. A decent team would have punished us.
I like everything there except Soto. I think he has quite a long way to go. But, shhhh. It’s meaningless to discuss people who cannot be called in for the Gold Cup.
JJ always gave that same vibe. Guys that have had to struggle know nothing's a given and respect the moment and yes, the honor. Too much, too soon, too given is a tale told of too many young athletes. The school of hard knocks still the best teacher.
Might be a little too soon for the Sarg and Soto best 11 combo but I’d like to see it ran out in a random friendly. Sarg is in my 11 but Soto And the combo I’m not sure. Brook Miazga still leaves me a little concerned but Adams and Wes should be able to cover for their lack of mobility. Miazga should likely be dropped for a more mobile CB if Brooks is starting (which he should if healthy). However, if that was the 11 I’d feel better about it than anything we’ve seen so far.
