No it is more that is seem that 3G wants to run a 3 CB system so instead of some ********ery of hybrid RB just play 3 at the back with 2 kickbacks. It can a 352 if you prefer. The point is you play 3 at the back and have 2 8s so that the step slower MB/Trapp can have coverage. You make Jozy a target man give Puli freedom to find space. Let's stop trying to re-invent the wheel and use a simple to understand system.

Well, too bad, because I'm pretty sure England has the "Vikings of international football" position reserved indefinitely.

    1. No stupid giveaways from the keeper and back four.
    2. Strong midfield play.
    3. A healthy Pulisic being able to take players off the dribble.
    4. Finishing when the opportunity presents itself.

There are always posters on the fringe calling for extreme positions.

iIRC, people really really wanted to get skilled players on the field so we could play possession soccer and he has excellent possession ball holding skills a la Nagbe

The two 8s in front of a 6 who can’t defend is a mirage though because one of them will always have to shade back to account for the weakness behind them.

We should be beating this team 12-0, anything less is a complete failure.

Supposedly USSF tweeted out then deleted a pic with Bradley's locker containing the captain's armband.

    Commence meltdown...

You're right. I say it had better be closer to 20 than your measely 12. The Thailand women's team would beat them.

Zelalem got some crumb minutes with Arsenal (in cup and CL games - not the league iirc). But it's kind of silly to even talk about the guy without mentioning his year and half out with knee surgery - from an injury suffered with the US U20s. Not that he was ever going to set the world on fire - despite his immense touch and skill he had no shot and a slow speed of play - but he has sadly not returned to his pre-injury level for whatever reason...

At least it’s not Trapp. Trapp 100% makes no sense at all—at least there is some logic in giving it to a guy who is the most experienced vet Gregg will inevitably put on the pitch.

Bold prediction: Guyana forfeits because all their players are back at the hotel watching the Cricket World Cup.

Alternatively: Guyana forfeits when all their players are detained in the airport back in Guyana because the officials refuse to believe there's such a thing as a "Guyana national football team."

Rather have them nervous than nonchalant like it had been in the past cycle.

Are you guys watching the barn-burner in Minnesota right now, or the team that beat us 3-0 last week playing Brazil?

I wonder if the knee injury had anything to do with it.

Is Zelalem even still a professional at this point?

Both, but mainly the latter. The PAN-T&T is dire, the other game is good.

Nobody has called for him in over two years. It was almost 3 years ago when the games from that video were played. Calling in a 19 yo with his potential would make more sense than wasting time on the crap players on this roster. You seem stuck on Zelalem. It is always odd to me how MLS fans take so much joy in an american not making it abroad.

I mentioned two players who are better than Trapp in the role he has played for the USMNT. One has played in USL and u19 in Germany while the other cant break through in the EPL but has played in the Championship and SPL.

The disconnection is mostly down to the fact that inclusion on a top team’s roster these days has less to do with higher talent level than lessening bias against Americans and greater exposure.

Nonetheless, most of this will come out in the wash when the great majority of these players either fail to sustain a high level career or settle in as serviceable but not difference makers at the club and international level.

Certainly, but Tyler Adams went from "bubble" guy to immediate starter the moment it was announced he was going to Germany.

And Steffen was being widely criticized, now signed with ManCity & everybody went mum. If he gets loaned back to MLS, the criticism will start again. But if ManCity sends him to start in some Dutch team, people immediately will pencil in as our starting keeper even before they see him play one game.

I mean...that's only sort of professional soccer. Most of those guys have day jobs, and nobody around here would be clamoring for a USL guy to be called in.

Why is it crazy to be calling for one of our top u20 players to get called into the national team. If we are going to draw lines such as "first team" minutes, then I think we need to start drawing the line higher. These filler players from MLS arent good enough.
