NASL Files Federal Antitrust Lawsuit Against US Soccer

Is the lawsuit still going?

 

It's in discovery until November or something like that.

 

Discovery is generally wide-ranging and not limited to strictly relevant information. Pro-rel is therefore probably fair game.

I hear while Miami FC are happy to be members of a sanctioned pro league it is expected they will play Founders Cup in the Fall. Beyond this I hear they are making efforts to encourage NISA, NPSL, UPSL and other indie leagues to align under a new pro, semi-pro and amateur pyramid

During the preliminary injunction hearing, the NASL did not challenge the authority of the USSF to establish divisional tiers or even promulgate standards for professional leagues, both issues potentially subject to antitrust examination. Instead — as Judge Brodie almost cheekily noted — the NASL merely sought to eliminate the PLS it didn’t meet, all under the guise of trying to prove an overarching conspiracy between the USSF, MLS, and even the United Soccer League to crowd the NASL out of the soccer market.

NPSL ad USL2 don't have pro status.

 

I think I'm going to end up on the roster of one of these teams when all is said and done.

Back when they were bidding for Dillon Stadium, NPSL side Hartford City FC touted a “letter of understanding” to join the NASL circa November 2017. Everyone involved saw right through it. They also signed the petition being touted by “The” Chris Kessell and Daniel Wokerman to implement pro/rel.

Next week they play the Revs u-23/practice squad at Gillette. Wonder what they will say to the Revs front office. And, as far as I can tell, the Revs haven’t promoted the match at all.

 

Meanwhile San Diego falls to USLC.
