We better hope that we nail this Bruno Fernandes deal as soon as possible. The longer this drags on, the more clubs are coming out of the woodwork trying to make a move for him and rival us for his signature. Atleti and even Pool among others are said to be making (or at least contemplating) moves for him. Pretty easy and straightforward for Woodward: whether Pogba stays or goes has no bearings on getting Fernandes. This needs to get done, before we end up missing out him.
Coutinho will not join United out of respect (for Pool).. https://www.skysports.com/football/...anchester-united-out-of-respect-for-Liverpool Thank you very much for clearing that up, Philippe. Much, much appreciated...
OFFICIAL: Francesco Totti has announced he is leaving Roma after a 30-year association with the club.🗣 “Since the Americans came in, they tried in every possible way to shove me to one side… It’s what they wanted and in the end, they succeeded.”😭 pic.twitter.com/X5mrRSsRmC— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) June 17, 2019 Francesco Totti: “Everyone knows they made me stop playing. I had a six-year contract already as a director. I started quietly, realising it’s a completely different sphere to being on the field. Many promises were made and they were never kept.” (Source: Football Italia) pic.twitter.com/YDzkp7o5CD— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) June 17, 2019 Francesco Totti: “The main focus of certain people has been to remove Romans from the club. BREAKING: Atlético Madrid have won the race to sign João Félix from Benfica. They'll pay his €120m release clause in full and the deal could even be announced soon. (Source: MARCA) pic.twitter.com/YB6tf3Vagw— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) June 17, 2019
Barca look to be staying in the corner when it comes to Griez and being very non committal so far at least. They're exploring all the options available as they really don't have to do anything until the end of the month anyway (July 1st is when Griezmann's release clause will be lowered).
They just dont want anyone else jumping in on him last minute. Everyone knows what will happen in the end unless Barca are going to pull a fast one on Griezz and leave him stranded.
More evidence that Al-Khelaifi and PSG have had enough of Neymar and might have chosen their new standard bearer in Mbappe. NAK on Mbappé: "I have explained to him that you do not ask for responsibility. You have to go and get it, sometimes even tear it off from somewhere else. You don't wait, you provoke. As he is very intelligent, I am sure that he has understood." https://t.co/qh8Gy6Ka5j— Get French Football News (@GFFN) June 17, 2019
That falls in line with the reports a week or so ago where they were saying there was a locker room rift between the French and Brazilian factions and that PSG were going to back a side. Seems like they chose Mbappe and the French contingent. Smart move.
https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.c...is-france-football-interview-opening-gambits/ Don't really care or have sympathy for PSG as a club or Nasser Al-Khelaifi but you have to give him credit for at least recognizing that things are not working, that they're not getting closer to their goals. He's also taking responsibility ultimately and he's promptly taken steps to change things and put his foot down. Woodward could learn from him on that front. Curious as to what else he has to say in this interview tbh.
PSG set themselves up for failure from the word go. They basically made it known that winning the league isn't enough and that the CL is the only thing thats important. Winning the CL takes a quality squad but is also based a lot on draws and luck. It's going to be hard to keep any group of players motivated because they stroll through a shit league every week and then are supposed to ramp up their game come CL time. That's a hard ask. Imagine a pro football (american) team playing college teams each week and then one week you throw them against the Patriots. Its hard to adjust to that level of competition with no ramp up time.
Winning the CL for a club like PSG is a lofty goal but it's one definitely worth pursuing, not only from a financial point of view but also because of the prestige that comes with it. It's not going to be easy and factors such as luck among other things do come into play. But the problem is that they've regressed pretty badly on that front since Neymar arrived (when he was supposed to put them over the hump). They used to do relatively well when Blanc was in charge and Zlatan was there. Those mild successes prove they can get it right, provided the circumstances and environment are correct, which the current setup and culture definitely were not. I don't know, nor care really tbh whether they will be successful but at least they've recognized that things as they are, are just not working and they're mixing it up, trying something else and go at it again. If nothing else, that is the smart and correct way to go about things. As opposed to remain mired in status quo (as we are). It's not just frustrating but just straight maddening,
Lyon set the price for Ndombele at £63mil. https://www.skysports.com/football/...ham-told-to-pay-63m-for-lyons-tanguy-ndombele Any hopes Tottenham had at getting him on the cheap have been swiftly dashed by Aulas. Betis reportedly said that Lo Celso will cost £70mil. So there it is for Levy or anyone else (us?) interested in either player. Those are not bad fees for either player, and I'd gladly for either at that rate tbh.
Benfica have rubbished the reports about Joao Felix as fake news. https://www.beinsports.com/us/soccer/news/benfica-deny-joao-felix-to-atletico-madrid-re/1220418
Neymar close to returning to Barcelona, according to Globo Esporte, Barcelona set to pay 100 million euros + involve some players (like Umtiti, Dembélé & Rakitic): https://t.co/xHJnsIjW43— Paulo Freitas (@Cynegeticus) June 17, 2019 Not surprising in the wake of Al-Khelaifi's recent comments. Would not be a bad deal for PSG, if they can get all those players in return, plus 100mil (any 2 out of 3, Umtiti and Dembele especially should be enough as makeweight in that transaction). This deal would open the door wide open for Griezmann going to PSG also.
I can hardly wait until we resign Mata, bag AWB and Longstaff. Oh, and sell pogba for Bale plus cash in a few weeks.

West Ham are willing to sell Diop for 60mil. https://www.skysports.com/football/...ll-manchester-united-target-issa-diop-for-60m Although not inherently against him, 60mil probably happens to be too much for a CB of his caliber. There are other ones out there who surely would not be as expensive (the RBL boys for starters: Konate and Upamecano). There is talk also that WH would accept Martial in a straight swap. No, just no.
There is also this crazy idea Manchester United will have to offer Anthony Martial in exchange if any deal is to be done for West Ham defender Issa Diop. (Source: Independent) pic.twitter.com/F9YWgBooIm— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) June 18, 2019
Just like Palace, WH don't have to sell and clearly are in control (as they should be, I suppose). But we, on the other hand, should just stop wasting time and walk away. Whether it's at RB and CB, there are other viable options we can and should pursue. And that should be a lesson well learned for Woodward and Co in regards to Pogba. Granted those players have not come out and publicly stated they want to leave, but the bottom line remains the club is in charge because they are under contract (just as Pogba is) and they set the terms.
