PSV in fight to sign Kang-in Lee

Kang-in Lee's future is up in the air. The South Korean footballer will have various options on the table when he returns from the Under 20 World Cup in Poland. The Eredivisie is a strong possibility, especially now that PSV have also shown interest.

The young South Korean footballer for Valencia will decide on his future after the Under-20 World Cup, in which he will play in the final against Ukraine. Kang-in Lee is keeping away from the rumours for now.

Because while he is focussed on claiming the World Cup with South Korea, various clubs seem to be lining up to sign him in a bidding process which looks like it will be fierce.

In recent hours, he was strongly linked with a move to Ajax, but another Eredivisie side has joined the battle to get the midfielder.

Lee needs to make his move to AJAX! Pronto!

Bullshit. Don't be fkng naive. If he moves to Ajax there's no question he'll get benched. Whereas Marcelino according to his track record with players like Ferran Torres, he will play Kang In Lee enough games for him to develop.

Lmao, he’d be riding the bench even harder at Ajax since Van de Beek doesn’t seem like he’s leaving this summer.

I'll be really disappointed if LKI leaves after barely half a season in the first team. Yes, I wish he played more, but I completely understand Marcelino being reluctant to use him. He was under huge pressure to recover from the disastrous first half of the season, so he was always going to stick with what was starting to work (4-4-2, established CM and wingers) instead of bleeding in a youngster who just signed a pro contract. It just wasn't going to be his priority with the axe hovering over him, so Cup matches were probably the only minutes LKI was going to get that half season. Finishing 4th and winning a trophy is amazing after the start they had, so I really can't crap on Marcelino; objectively speaking, he's done a really good job for the club.

I honestly believe that Marcelino rates LKI. If he didn't, he'd simply have tossed him aside like 95% of all academy players. He just hasn't had the chance to integrate him properly. Valencia will have a bloated schedule with Laliga/CL/Cup/SuperCup games, so Marcelino will be forced to rotate his squad heavily. He won't have the axe hovering over his head, so he'll be more likely to try different formations and give LKI a chance in his favored CAM role, instead of pushing him out to the wings. I'm really not worried, he'll get a chance to show his stuff next season.

If I'm wrong, by all means he should leave or go on loan next season. I would just hate to see him go after not really even trying to break into the first team. Valencia is a big club with an amazing culture, and with LKI being a homegrown/academy player, I really want to see him succeed here and become a club legend.

he predominately played on the wings during the u-20 WC. i remember i was concerned he was too left-footed a few years back and with his delicious crosses, maybe LW won't be so bad but he'd have to improve his sprint speed, which idk he's capable of

At this point, Lee has outgrown Valencia. I do believe Lee is just as good as Messi was at his age, but his career can get screwed up badly by dealing with a bad coach. He needs to move to a team that has the money to surround him with the best players that money can buy.

Valencia is a good team but they don't have the money to reach that next level.

You are delusional. Just as good as Messi was his age after a U-20 WC performance, what a ********ing joke. Valencia is the 4th biggest club in arguably the biggest league in the world trailing superstar clubs like Barca Real and Atletico.

Might as well claim he's already better than Messi, and while you're at it, throw in CR7 R9 R10 Pele and Maradona in there too.

Just curious, as phenomenal as LKI is, he’s still a young developing player and there are definitely some things he still needs to work on. What are some areas of his game do you think could use some improvement? For instance, lately I’ve seen multiple VCF fans saying he needs to work on his defensive skills.

The mullet goalie, Kim Byungji, commented on this YouTube channel that Koreans, unlike Africans and Europeans, mature physically a bit later. Thus, while the U-20s from those countries are grown-ass-men, Koreans tend to be slighter and don't fill out until 22-23. He hopes that LKI becomes stronger and faster -- the only things Byungji believes is keeping him from being top tier today.

In general, I wonder how much strength training Korean players do. I don't think Lewandowski is a mesomorph but you've all seen him without his shirt on. I shudder to think what Lee JaeSung shirtless would look like.

Korea does lag behind in terms of physical fitness, but they are catching up quickly. There are more Koreans willing to travel to Europe to train and that's beginning to pay off.
