They did. “With the overwhelming demand today for Season Ticket Membership Deposits, we encourage people to sign up sooner rather than later,” Loughnane said. “Those who are unable to purchase season tickets for the inaugural season as a result of their position in line will be placed on a priority waitlist for future seasons and will enjoy exclusive individual-match benefits that come with placing a membership deposit.” It is not 30k total tickets. Just stop. That wouldn't be a record.
I don't think it has anything to do with the size of the market and everything to do with the fact that signs of support till now have been at best tepid and on average not good. Plus the next time PSV succeeds with a business venture will be his first.
I never thought is was 30k total seats, I read is as 30k depoists, meaning at min. if they bought a single ticket each there would be a waiting list of 15k (If they top off season tickets at 15k). See. my earlier post #2665 Maybe if the FO was more clear then we wouldn't be arguing with each other. They could of said they sold 30k of half/full season tickets, even if it was all half season tickets (8 games) that would mean 240,000 total seats out of a total 348,5000 have been sold.
You said, "Then how is it a record? 30k seats isn't that much, 30,000 out of 348,500 (100% capacity) possible seats." How is that not claiming it is 30k total tickets for an entire season? Maybe if you weren't being intentionally difficult we wouldn't be arguing. I am not the one that made the tweets and thus don't have to answer for anything, but it is quite clear they don't mean 30k total seats out of 348,500 for the whole season. This is really silly and I am not going to continue down this path. I am out. Have fun.
I was just quoting on other posts and how the FO worded their twit. Look at my original post (#2665), I thought it was 30k deposits, with a waiting list.
Lol why would someone think you can place a deposit on a single game? That doesn't even make sense!! Or do you REALLY think this whole thing is just a complete twist of the numbers where they sold the equivalent number of season tickets to mean 30k total? That would be too much. The tweet was vague, but they clearly sold at LEAST 30k/8 deposits for season tickets. If you are claiming that it means something else then you just have an agenda.
And it would be a terrible marketing strategy. Telling people they're "too late" to get tickets will just serve to depress interest.
30k/8 deposits would equal 3750 deposits. It’s almost definitely more than that, but I don’t know if they would have said they took 4000 individual deposits sounds as impressive. It’s a marketing trick, no doubt, but I think the talk of waiting lists is a bit premature.
I agree its looking less likely that it is not 30k seasons as time passes, but we all gotta agree, the tweet was worded in a way that opened the door for deception. My original thought was 1,765 deposits x 17 games= 30,000 seats. It appears that was the wrong assumption. 30,000 is an insane number, even for one of the bigger leagues, so it's easy to see 30k as hard to believe, regardless of ownership, market size etc. NYCFC sold about 1,100 deposits on its first day, so 1,765 in one day would be both plausible and probably even a one day record as they claimed. To sum up my ramble, the 30k/17 games =1,765 deposits was at first glance not a ridiculous thought, and was not rooted in an anti-precourt agenda. I'll admit that I was probably wrong though!
It was still a ridiculous assumption, because that wouldn't be something they'd be bragging about that way. There is marketing spin, but that would be wayyyyy too much marketing spin. They'd get so much shit for that that they'd never be able to live it down.
So why haven't they announced they've sold out their stadium for the 2021 season but are still adding people to the waiting list?
I’m just going to split the difference and say it is 30,000 seats sold for the season, at an average of 4 seats per deposit. That comes out to 7,500 requests. That is very impressive and worthy of celebration for the first day.
I hated Austin since the day it was leaked that they wanted to move the Crew, but man each day reading this forum I like them more.
They are no more, or less clear then you'd expect from a PR release. You are reading deeply into it because you have an agenda.
This isn't complicated. When you placed a deposit you could put down $50 for regular seats, or $100 for "premium seats". You could then select that you desired 1-8 seats. The total number seats requested exceeded 30,000. I asked for 2 "premium" seats personally... (Whether I actually do premium will depend on the pricing).
Really? They've only taken $50 or $100 deposits. Obviously the stadium isn't sold out until people, you know, actually buy tickets?
I don't have to "read deeply into it" to find vagueness. The confusion of numerous posters about numerous aspects of what has been disseminated from Austin FC the past couple days is ample, tangible evidence of its opacity. If it were clear, people wouldn't be confused and arguing about what was meant.
But it is clear? Somewhere between 3750 and 30000 people paid either $50 or $100 and requested a number of season tickets totalling over 30,000. Exactly how many people made deposits? Who knows, Austin FC hasn't said. It's their ********ing business... This isn't hard, they just apparently don't teach math in Columbus, Ohio.
So basically they sold out the 2021 season and have thousands on a waiting list. That's GREAT for them and for the league.
