It’s June 14th and Manolas has been linked to Juve, inter, Napoli and now Milan lol. What Italian team is next?
hypothetically, say Lucas Torriera was interested in coming to Rome, and Arsenal for some reason wanted Nzombie, what are the potential financial ramifications, @Salmeen10? Could we pull it off, or do we need to see what Seydou Keita's up to these days?
Yeah I read that he might want a comeback. He’d cost at least 30-35M plus maybe 1.5-2M (currently he earns 1.6M net). If Arsenal are open to a loan with obligation and Torreira doesn’t want a big pay raise it can be done relatively easy. If we buy him outright at 2M wages, he’d cost 9.5M-10.5M per year, which is lower than Nzonzi/Pastore but is still a lot in our current situation. If we sell Nzonzi +Zaniolo and maybe one of Pellegrini/Pastore/Cristante plus Manolas, we could do it. We basically have to clear a lot of the current contracts and make him near the top. I don’t expect that we can achieve break even next year, we will post a big loss. The question is how large? Torreira can be done with some sacrifice from all sides.
I was talking about working out a swap deal. Nzonzi for Torreira. Would it make sense (financially), or is it actually more beneficial to just rid ourselves of Nzonzi entirely and look for a cheaper option?

How was I wrong? Just because you overrate him doesn't make him great. But ok, when he's healthy, he's better than I said but he's not nearly as great as you argue. He can't score other than PKs, his passing and decision making in the final 3rd is above average. There is a reason he doesn't produce many goals or assists. You continually underestimate SES yet his stats have been equal to Perotti's.. or better. In the end your argument only holds water if I accept your analysis that Perotti somehow a great winger. If this is how you want to play it I can go back and pull up our conversations regarding Bruno Peres. You swore he was a fantastic signing and would quickly send Florenzi to the bench. You were far more wrong about this than I have been about Perotti. Last year we had this exact same discussion about Olsen and you said the same things about me. Again, you were more wrong about Olsen than I was about Perotti. I'm not sure why you had to make it personal but if that's how you want to play it, ok. Every person on this board has been right about players and wrong about players. I just pointed out 2 you were completely and totally wrong about... so who is talking without knowing?
lol.. they the first one you are talking about was his one and only goal from open play. Also the last one didn't end up being all that important, we would have still finished 6th.
Depends on the numbers. A straight swap is not realistic as Torreira is worth twice Nzonzi’s market value. But if Arsenal agree, it will be very good on the books. But its still not enough and we’ll have to sacrifice elsewhere.
I'm not convinced of that, tbh. I think with Torreira narrowing the market to Serie A clubs, it would mean it's a difference of 10-15m tops, depending on how much you think Nzonzi's value has decreased here.
Off the top of my head, I could form a long list of some of things you have come out with that leaves me scratching my head but it wasnt about making it personal. Its pointing out that you have a tendency to judge players negatively that you don't have the first idea about. The only legit worry you could have for Fer is his injury record in recent times but that will obviously be offset by a low wage. Perotti has made our attack click throughout his time here and we have many games without his presence we look a much worse side. Perotti is not just a good winger but a good all round footballer, something SES is not and if you cant see that by now well not much else I can say. SES having a knack for getting into good positions and scoring doesn't make him a better player. SES I have always said was a good squad player who could have been world class if he have developed his game to be able to go outside or inside as a youngster. At this point he is what he is, a decent player Olsen? I never championed other than saying we should give him a chance once he was signed. I support all players who come here. When he was given the number 1, I said it was clear he was going to be the starting keeper which you disagreed with. Looking back, obviously we all wish this transfer never happened but it was only fair to give the man a chance when he was signed. Bruno yes I got that wrong and thought he would be a top player on the right side. I think with him it came more down to a poor attitude and workrate (Spalletti on the sideline constantly ushering him to go forward and keep in line with the attack) and not just a lack of ability but thats how it goes.
Him and Suarez were fun to watch. Constantly arguing with each other but they worked well pushing each other.
Totti's meeting with Fienga postponed, the captain needs more time https://t.co/4dN7m3yv5L— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) June 14, 2019
We can just agree to disagree about SES and Perotti. It not about give a player a chance or not, hell, I would have been ecstatic if I was wrong about Peres and Olsen. When I look at players we bring in its about bringing in players that make sense. I'm not going to support stupid decisions by a DS just because. To be open, in Peres case it was about him in particular. I never liked him and did not want him in particular.. doesn't make me a genius just right about that particular guy. I would much rather struggle along next year (because we will probably struggle regardless of who's playing) with a young player(s) rather than a 30 year old. What is the point? Even if he turn out to be good he's not going to be the difference between a CL spot or not. If we are rebuilding than rebuild. If we are not rebuilding spend, the money go get a player with a much higher upside. That's it. As far as scratching your head about other players I've been so wrong about, who? Now I'll admit I'm overly cautious about players we buy. Too many fans automatically project them as the next coming of <insert great player> and that is both unfair and foolish. Maybe my hesitation about proclaiming every purchase as great can come off as being overly negative, I can see why it's interpreted like that, but that's not my intent at all. For example, I got my chops busted about Karsdorp. I never said Karsdorp was going to suck but many people perceived it that way. I merely pointed out that every player Roma can afford has a degree of risk and uncertainty so lets give him a year or 2 before we make roster moves (ie selling Florenzi) until Karsdorp actually shows up and plays a few games. Doesn't mean I don't think he can be our starting RB, just that I'm not willing to sell our only other proven RB until Karsdorp actually shows us what he's got. I still haven't given up on him, btw.

Well, it looks like I was right in thinking about getting Diawara, but if we're to believe this rumor, it sounds like we want a 32-year-old Mertens instead. Hopefully, Petrachi (or whoever) realizes Diawara is the smarter decision. (Not to mention, why the hell would Mertens leave Napoli for us.)
