I'm not sure if Thailand belongs or not. The 4 goals in 5 minutes probably killed them off from keeping it respectable (under 7-0) against the USA. Having a goalkeeper who would have trouble playing for my U12 girls didn't help much. I was happy to see her actually dive on a shot after it already was 8-0.

Like others said, keep playing hard. GD is an excuse in this case but every player deserves the respect of playing hard for 90, on either side of the slaughter. The celebrations though after the 5th or 6th goal just showed a lack of class. Looking for Lloyd to get a goal over the last 10 minutes was a joke.

I actually have never really been single as an adult. I had a girlfriend through college. She dumped me when I joined the army. I was deployed for two years in Iraq. Got home met my wife been married for 10 years. In fairness something about soccer brings out my wild side. In my day life I am a responsible adult.

Edit: My misogyny comes from previous female coworkers not people I have been in relationships with.

I'd forgotten that game. The Spanish women showed a bunch of class. They never once took their foot off the pedal; they were businesslike. Here to do a job, but not all that excited to be pounding shit out of a tiny Pacific island.

Actually not a bad question, but barking up the wrong tree nonetheless.

The US brought seven forwards (8 if you count the one playing left back) and five defenders. They clearly dont need seven forwards and the defenders yesterday had literally nothing to do. The players in question are mostly defenders

Fair enough, but may I opine that you should disparage the worthless individuals for their actions individually and stop painting women as a category in such bad light for the actions of a few. There are shit people in every crowd. It's not unlike how some paint Big Soccer as a whole as awful because some people suck, and sometimes good people write stupid things on the Internet. I truly am happy that you have someone. It honestly makes me worry a little less about you. And good on you for taking my harsh point in the semi jest it was intended and not getting offended and even confronting yourself in the mirror I put up. I see growth, Jack. There's hope for you yet. Keep on keeping on. And bring that woman to TAAAilgate 2. I desperately want to meet this angel. :D:thumbsup:

    Yeah, bunch of sissies.

For the record, the Confederations Cup did not include female players. That we know of.

( Obviously have the current WC on my mind. )

I'd be a little careful. Sweden is ranked #9 in the world and is the team that knocked us out of the last world cup, in the quarterfinals

It's TRUE that Pia Sundhage has retired, and she owned our asses but even so, they still have some big time talent and beating them is a far ways from a sure thing

That's because women are usually only really shitty to other women.

Fair enough. But will you admit their are females in large orgainizations that get by on their looks. Who contribute very little.

On a side note. I would rather be the goalie for a marksmanship team then work in academia.

This is not an exclusive trait to women.

As I've always said. Bigotry and racism are stupid and intellectually weak viewpoints. There are perfectly good reasons to hate people for their individual qualities.

I try to be nice to just about everyone.

Look at the stats on good looking people and income-earning potential.

Have the USWMNT not lost to Sweden before in a world cup? Like in the group stage?

Sure. It's possible. But the US is going to be the expected winner nonetheless.

I'm of course not ruling it completely out that we could lose, but with victory expected against Chile, and the fact that some third-place finishers are going to advance in this tournament, the goal differential argument falls quite flat.

For the record, the consensus is that the US wins the group, beats Spain in the round of 16 and meets France in the Quarters, at which point opinion is pretty evenly split.

But if they beat France they(or France) will meet England in the Semifinal and Germany in the final.

Now in truth, with the men, this kind of guesswork, while entertaining, is very hard to take seriously.

But with the women, there are far fewer teams that are even capable of pulling off an upset. Australia and Brazil could sneak into the picture, but not much else.is likely

This was my take as well. Had it been a goalie in question, it seems to me the original question might well have been why didn't the US win 13 to minus 1?

Why not work in academia first, then be
    a marksmanship goalie?

I've been busy trying to understand why acting like goals 9-13 were stoppage time winners is considered not being a total dick.

I've been through this kind of thing on both ends. My first club (not counting being on the JV of the JV in junior high) we lost our first game 12-0. They ended up putting me in goal at the end--though I did not give one up and I still have a GAA of 0.0 ;). The best game we had that season was a 4-1 loss, albeit to the league champs. We lost 14-0 once. We were the second division side in our club, and only once had a full 11 due to injuries for both our team and our first division side.

The other side? We were playing a really bad team indoors up at that place in the Continent--and scoring at will. I finally got one that night. It was my 100th goal for my club. How do you not celebrate that, at least a little. I had friends and my wife there, as we figured it could come that night as I'd been sitting on 99. But the other team got upset--even after I explained why. I get it, but....
