They pointed it out long ago in the first half. Shame FOX couldn't have hired her to commentate on our game...
I'm guessing this game forestalls any talk of expanding the WWC to 32 teams for another four years. Reminds of Germany 8-0 Saudi Arabia in Korea/Japan after the Men's World Cup went from 24 to 32 teams. Morgan with five Les États Unis 12-0 Thaïlande
If the US went through qualifying for the WWC, we'd see more scorelines like this vs some Caribbean minnows.
The previous women's record was Germany 11-0 over Argentina in 2007. The USA's previous largest win was 7-0 over Taiwan in the quarterfinals of the 1991 1st FIFA World Championship for Women's Football for the M&M's Cup.
Did anyone else just habitually delete their browsing history after watching Bangkok girls getting beat.
Our 3 group stage games in WCQ for 1991 were 12-0, 12-0, 10-0. 10-0 in the semis and 5-0 over Canada in the final.
I agree with Rob Stone and disagree with you guys. That was embarrassing and did not show respect to the opposition. If you are worried about goal differential as being a tie-breaker, then just be a better team than Sweden and you won't have to worry about it. If you are concerned about who the US plays in the second round, then you're basically saying the US isn't good enough to win the World Cup anyway. Humiliating small nations does nothing in my mind except bring disgrace upon the bigger nations. Just my view and I recognize I am the minority voice here.
There are degrees to this. Up say 5-0, sure keep your foot on the gas, but somewhere around 8-0, 9-0 up, I agree, call off the dogs.
USWNT scored more goals than any other group, and more than (or equal to) any two groups added together.
