Wow. If I had any doubt about the outcome of this game, I would be furious that VAR didn’t step in and review for a penalty there.

I feel bad for the Joe Sportsfans who are going to hear about this result and say "yeah, 'Merica! We gon' be world champs again!" only to hear about the US losing to France in a couple of weeks while listening to 97.1 on their way home from work and being super duper confused. "But I thought our girls were the best in the world?!"

If we lose it won't be to France, it will be to some team like the Netherlands or England.

    That's how empires fall.

    Never mind. Read another thread.

I was at the US 7:1 Nigeria game in 1999.

It was, in retrospect, a gigantic waste of gas money and time. Seems some things haven't changed as much as we thought.

Everyone who is watching this game needs to delete their browsing history. Its what you do after you watch Americans beat some Bangkok girls.

How is this good for anything?

The stakes are obviously non-existent, but I've been on both sides of similar scoreline, and it's miserable, even if you're winning.

If nothing else, it’s proof that expanding the World Cup fields can be a bad idea.

Oh dear, KC Bus. I know you are on the look out to call me out, but look back through the thread for context here so you don’t make an ass of yourself (again).

Yet to be determined. Alexi Lalas says no, and since hes always wrong I'm leaning towards yes.

I can't imagine a scenario where this wasn't embarrassing for absolutely everyone. But I haven't seen anything yet.

I don't know. I could rattle off the company line about how this is the first match of a group stage of a World Cup and you never know when goal differential could come into play, but we all know that's bullshit. The US isn't going to lose to both Chile and Sweden, they're likely not going to lose to either one, so GD my ass.

But honestly, when you're that good and the opponent is that bad, goals happen. Would it really have made everyone happier if they just passed it around the back for the last 30 minutes? If you don't want to get blown out, get better.

I could have done without some of the celebrations once it was out of hand, but the scoreline is what it is.
