It will be interesting if the U-20s defeat Ecuador, as the kickoff time of the U-20 World Cup semifinal and the US Women vs. Thailand will occur within 30 minutes of each other on Tuesday, June 11.
That is why we have DVR functionality and/or the ability to watch later in the Fox sports app. You do not need to choose which to watch you just need to choose which to watch first. I intend to watch all the remaining U20 matches, regardless of teams, all the Women's World Cup matches, regardless of teams, and all the Gold Cup matches, Regardless of teams.
I might skip Thailand, but generally I'll be watching the other matches that don't conflict with work. Fortunately, the U-20 final won't conflict with US Women vs. Chile.
Damn, I have already blocked off the time to watch the Thailand game, but since is going to be a rout, I'll watch the U 20s, if they make it. Hopefully, they don't spoil the Thailand result during the broadcast, so I can enjoy watching the recording. This is the biggest problem with watching 2 games that overlap.
I'll have the Thailand game on the laptop while I watch U20s I guess, though probably not much point to that.
Streaming. But I work a pretty chill job that doesn't care as long as I still get stuff done, and I do.
If, as you seem to think, the U.S. women don't have competition, how did they lose three out of the last four World Cups?
Taking a day of PTO to watch the Thailand game. All the other days I’ll sneak into the break room at work to switch the tv to Fox or FS1 and catch as much action as I can on breaks and lunch. Did it last year for the men’s WC and it’s a good way to chat people up about soccer. Then taking a week PTO to watch 2 knockout round games in France.
I'll just list the ones I am sure are putting good resources into women's soccer and that I can come up with off the top of my head. Not all of these made this WWC and I have left off a few that really should be included. Some are not putting enough into their program and I am quite sure I will miss several: Germany France United States England Italy Spain Nigeria Jamaica South Africa Guyana Australia Japan China New Zealand Chile Brazil Argentina Portugal Netherlands Denmark Norway Sweden Iceland Canada S. Korea N. Korea Scotland That is more than five or six I think and there are more. Some of the better programs are still pretty new but the number of good programs is growing.
When you work for yourself, once a while you get to tell your asshat of a boss to go shove it. He'll threaten to fire you, but he's all talk and no action. Of course, you'll also be at the desk at 2 am, cause he's a jerk...
They lost the 2011 Final in penalties. If not, they would have won 4 of the 7 World Cups and reached the Semifinal in the other 3. This is not even a debatable point. The women's game is not competitive.
I hesitate to respond directly to trolls and it rarely ends well but in this case I will: YES I am completely serious.
Hate to disagree, that list seems dubious. Guyana? The Jamaican federation stopped funding its women's team since 2015. Throughout 2019, Jamaicans held US fundraisers to cover expenses at France 2019. Despite FIFA advance payments to the JAM fed, its women's team lacked enough money. Some squads make it to the Women's WC without federation support, further undermining the strength of that world tournament. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/24/sports/womens-world-cup-jamaica.html
Calling everyone who even slightly pushes back on something you post a troll is very off-putting. And it makes you look weak. Jamaica's women's program was shut down for 4 years. Their federation gives practically zero support to the women's program. In fact, even though they qualified for this World Cup there's still no guarantee that the program will survive much longer. https://www.espn.com/soccer/fifa-wo...ow-bob-marleys-daughter-saved-jamaican-soccer The sentiment is understandable. The JFF -- which is ostensibly in place in part to support the Reggae Girlz -- has disbanded the team twice. And even with the boost that comes with reaching the sport's biggest stage, the federation has made no guarantees about the viability of the program going forward. "That's what we want," Wint says. "But it's money that makes the mare get up." And there's another inconvenient fact that, you know, they barely have any actual Jamaican players. Of the 23 players on the World Cup roster, only 6 are from Jamaica. They basically don't have any sort of development system for their women. So you can understand why I thought you might be joking when you included Jamaica on your list.
I guess this thread got moved out of embarrassment? You need to Watch the Women's World Cup if you want to watch a senior US National Team playing actual soccer..
After watching the US men roll over and play dead against Venezuela and lose 3-0 I switched over to a match (Jamaica vs Brazil) from the WWC. Jamaica also lost 3-0 BUT they played an entertaining match and were fun to watch. I watch sports to enjoy them and I did not enjoy US vs Venezuela but I did enjoy Jamaica vs Brazil. Right now the WWC is more entertaining than US soccer.
I saw England vs Scotland. Not a great game, but fought with great spirit on both sides. Two teams who really were giving their all...... weirdos, eh?
