We’ll have to take our lumps at some point, it’s a question of whether management decides now is a good time for blooding the youth and punting on a season (which also explains bringing in a bunch of Chelsea legends to front office positions with questionable actual decision making powers).
I would think you would want to get those salaries /contracts off the book. That would be the smart and financially responsible thing to do. Not all of the loanees need to be sold but there are 10 or more who will never see a game for Chelsea including our own Matt Miazga.
What does the transfer ban have to do with our loan players? We aren’t losing revenue due to the loan ban, and we’d still be in the CL.
I never said it did. I simply said the financially responsible thing to do was sell loan players to get that off your books. If you have loan players who will never play for The club and you aren’t making a profit by selling them, what’s the point in keeping them on the books? Doesn’t see like smart business. That’s all I mean. I don’t care about the transfer ban. That wasn’t my point, clearly.
While I agree that Matt is not likely to ever be a realistic option for Chelsea, you do need to give him credit for his two starts there- so it’s not “never see a game" but rather “never see another game”. Give credit where credit is due.
So you propose the club urgently restructure its successful and profitable loan system because....Miazga?
https://www.cityam.com/roman-abramovich-accused-money-laundering-and-crime-links/ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...ncelled-plans-live-switzerland-police-warned/ The extraordinary case began on July 25, 2016, when Abramovich applied for a permit to settle in Valais, including transfer of his tax residency. [...] Wealthy foreigners can apply for residency citing “major public interest” which, in most cases, means a very significant tax burden. [...] As usual, the officials consulted the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) for advice. But by January 2017, police had advised immigration officials to reject the case. [...] The journalists quoted extracts from the private Fedpol documents they had obtained. They said that the objection to residency centred around “suspicion of money laundering” and “contacts to criminal organisations”. ---- The Swiss have never been too squeamish about doing business with shady characters. For them to not let Roman live there means they have solid evidence not just of malfeasance, but that they suspect such evidence is available to the rest of Europe (England included) and have decided not to have further problem with their neighbors. In short, you have to be super-dirty for the Swiss not to want your billions around. PS: Of course the loan army serves the purpose by the simple rule of keeping the money-in paid by the clubs who have them separated from the money-out paid to the players by the parent club.
Roman has been accused of alot of things, basically due to the origin of his money in 90s Russia. I don't think that really has anything to do with how he runs the club, of which he is probably the best owner in all of England and maybe Europe since he bought the team. The loan army includes players such as Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Fikayo Tomuri who all have been loaned out to get more game time than is available currently. You could also argue its an improvement on years past, in that there is a plan for them to be integrated with Chelsea, which wasn't the case when they loaned out Cuadrado, De Bruyne, or Mo Salah.
That's one cool ass Mom. My Mom....... she would have taken that ball, opened the back door, punted that thing to London, and then whooped my ass for playing with a soccer ball in the house. She wouldn't give a damn if I was a professional and bought her the house
Lol, how is the Chelsea loan army money laundering? It all goes through the club! This is like the underpants gnomes, but for money laundering. The issue with Roman isn’t money laundering anyway, it’s his closeness to the Kremlin.
We’ve always had a lot of young players out on loan, actually. Some of the players on our squad now spent years at other clubs - RLC, Christensen. We also still have the older players on loan we don’t quite know what to do with - Bakayoko, Morata, etc.
Lol yes, all the piles and piles of trophies I've seen from Liverpool in 25 years... 14 years in between major titles ended just last weekend, zero league wins in my time as a fan. Great point. Not to mention the corroborating evidence: may I present exhibit A, the Warriors jersey on a LeBron fan from Pennsylvania.
