He was tired. You can tell. The coaches need to manage these quick turnarounds better.

Why not give Cerrillo a run out late? Is he not likely to start next game with Durkin out? Would've like to see him get some time. Maybe Tab plans on starting Servania in the 6 role

Mendez struggles to play 90. He's played alot. Not effective. Ledezma looked lively. Losing Durkin hurts but hopefully we see Cerrillo and not Servania. Cerrillo is good enough to start for Dallas over Servania and others but not good enough to play over Servania for U20s. Huh?

France may decide to duck us, so we may end up playing Mali next. :)

People mature over time, not because soccerfan236 called them a moron on big soccer.

Either way it was a terrible decision, hopefully he learns from the moment.

That virtually everyone on this board could have called a hundred times over. Tab just baffles me. The results are the results, but there is so much bird brained stupidity, avoidable bird brained stupidity, it just confounds me. Can't argue w/what he's done in '15 and '17, but man, just clueless w/resting players, playing guys on yellows, subbing guys on yellows at the half etc.

Mendez, it just got in his head. He wasn't exactly the picture of confidence before that penalty, and they have a pretty big goalie as well. I'm sure I wasn't the only one worried he was gonna blow that.

I will say this: At the World Cup...............its survive and advance.
We have done so AGAIN at the U20 level.

Regardless of what folks think of Tab Ramos, the guy is in fact the most successful coach we have in the system. Another advancement past the knockout round. That's four in a row. I bet if we made a list of nations that have done that over the last four World Cups, its a small list. So congrats on that. That's not nothing.

Anyway, with that behind me: What I just watched was trash. Don't understand many of the selection decisions or the tactics that we used.

Everyone's so worried about France. France and Mali play, and Mali was African champions. We've had an awful time against African teams. Anyone want to bet they beat France and we get Mali?

Maybe Ledezma can bring some surprise next game? I thought he has some quality here, but who can we replace Durkin?

Left-footed penalty takers always worry me. It feels like they're way easier to read.

Even Messi misses 25% of the time.

Mendez's love fest is his direct kicks, if he doesn't connect, then he is average at best, he gets beat with speed and size all day long. Fortunately, destiny is going to force Tab's hand.

Fittingly, about the only decision Tab clearly made correctly, subbing in Llanez, was the only one which worked out.

KDLF has the caveat of being on tired legs, but Llanez played a better 30-minute stint than he has all tourney. And they are both under-ages.

McKenzie should get his captaincy ripped for that performance. You expect much more leadership on the field than that. His decision-making wasn't sensible. Fiddling with the ball, instead of clearing, and then grabbing. Pomykal should get it when both are available.

But move him into the cb pairing with Richards. Keita may well be the worst passer at cb we've seen in the modern era. Takes forever on the ball, and then either plays a speculative pass/gets it picked off him, or just lays backward.

Mendez has been a moment of brilliance per match player, surrounded by loose balls and losing loose balls. I've been disappointed in what I've seen.

Durkin has been the d-mid version of Mendez without the moments of brilliance. Not my cup of tea.

Richards has been the most consistent player that's played in all 3 matches. It's not a coincidence he's a cb who doesn't have to move as much.

Hopefully they can bounce back to challenge a tough opponent after mailing it in today and being on even more tired legs in some cases.

    Cerrillo...........................

I thought Durkin was good against Nigeria, so was surprised about today's performance.

I think France's B team would still be favorites to win this tournament...would love it if Mali got a result.

I wasnt impressed by Ochoa at all. Plenty of shaky moments.

I also dont think this game deserves a man of the match.

a lot of good it's done us at the senior level. As Alexi pointed out there's two goals and both are important: one is to win sure, the other is to develop your guys for the next level. You can do both at the same time surely.

Well, I thought it was clear I was suggesting people around him call him out. I do get that Bigsoccer posters calling him out will not help him.

hmmm I thought he was pretty good. Only flub I can recall is when he fumbled the ball, but that was called for a foul.
