I agree. Quality posts get less likes than puns and other semi- humorous low content posts. I was simply pointing out to the previous poster that belittling someone over their post to like ratio is not really a valid smackdown.
I disagree. Posts of genuine quality tend to get well rewarded with reps...it is just that such posts will make up only a small minority of the rep awarded as they are far far far fewer than any other kind of post. To be a quality post -despite the opinion of some- it is not necessary to be ever "serious" and devoid of humor. What is necessary is to have an insightful point [or points] which is made with intelligence, supported by some reasonable evidence, and written effectively. Most posts which aim for quality, from Azer to Zoop, fail miserably to satisfy this necessity. But when it occurs, the reps roll in.
I only replied to you because I don't want to even bother with the original poster who suggested this ludicrous crap.
That is a fantastic definition of a storied club......Well done. 2 League cup wins and a Intertoto (!) win. Brilliant. Does that make Leicester storied because they have 2 league cups and a title? You should have gone with not talking out of your arse or actually posted what you meant.
This is why the internet sucks. You cant have any type of discussion without two people arguing over the semantics of an offhand comment not pertinent to the discussion. *You also can't have a discussion without someone else pointing out those idiots.
Fair point. Well made. Depends whether you think facts matter or not It's a useful way of judging posters. If they are talking out of their arse on something you have knowledge about. Are they talking out of their arse on something you don't ?
As Paul said, there is no salary cap in MLS, we are just lazy and refer to it like this. MLS has a salary budget, meaning if the budget is 13 million, that works as a floor and all teams will spend at least 13 million, if DP, TAM, GAM continue in some form, some teams will spend more than 13 million.
The stadium did cost some money, sure it was for the NFL team, but if you allocate some of the cost, then the bought for is more than 80 million. But still at least a double up of an investment in 3 years, is they type ROI that any investor would love.
Despite 20 years of my popping up almost every time people in this forum say "Cap" to explain that MLS has a "Budget" and that "Budget" only covers 18-20 players, not the full first squad. The NHL has a Cap and a Floor. The NBA has a Cap. I know the NBA, and I believe the NHL also have minimum/maximum percentage of defined league revenue numbers that can lead to players being changed a percentage or paid an extra percentage to keep league player wages with a defined window of league revenues. The NFL does what the NFL wants as it's the one league with a relatively toothless players association. It has a Salary Cap, but almost no guarantees for the players. MLB has a Luxury Tax.
This may still fit in the category of "cap" but I believe the NBA has a soft cap and luxury tax. Teams can go over the cap and pay a penalty....I think.
FFS, people. Move on. If you haven't figured it out yet, we aren't going to kick crookeddy out of the forum just because he is negative. Now, that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement in how he expresses his negativity, but in this case, the derailing is being done by the people complaining about him trolling. Sheesh. Move on, folks.
Maybe we just missed having you around so we created this giant off topic conversation to lure you back!
As far as off topic conversations go, this one is still a looooong way behind fish puns, tanks, or the soviet automotive industry.
Stupidface moderators can't ignore anyone - even when they're in forums they're not the moderator of.
Not to be pedantic, but panzer is a generic term meaning tank. You might have said Tiger or Panther instead, although to be precise one would need to say, for example, Panzerkampfwagen V Panther, to designate the Sd.Kfz. 171. Of course as we all know, Hitler himself ordered the removal of the V in the designation which originally meant simply that it was the Mark 5 version of the vehicle, but which Uncle Adolf felt came a bit too close to endorsing the Allied V for Victory slogan. Whatever he called them, the Russkies were busy swamping battallions of Panthers with entire field armies of T34's. The designation should have been whatever German is for "donating scrap steel to the Soviets" But all that would mean discussing tanks, and we certainly never do that here.
I just swooned. But, having found Panzer General running in a Java DOS Box online a few weeks ago, I'm having way too much fun with that time sink.
