    That's all folks.
Not a good way to start and now a difficult match against Nigeria next up.

Not confident we will advance but you never know. At this age level you never know what to expect

Huh? I mean, sure, it's not a good performance for your DM. That's true regardless of what that possession number is. Otherwise, ?????

What an awful US team, they won’t make it past group stage at this point.

In all seriousness, they did dominate and it’s unfortunate that they couldn’t finish off the hosts.

Well, I'm not that disappointed with the result. The Ukrainians were better tactically and on set pieces, but I thought the US showed more talent overall and will have more guys with good club careers in another 3-4 years.

Dest (defensively), Durkin, and Weah were the big disappointments for me. I thought everyone else played reasonably well.

Didn't watch the game, but given the track record vs European opponents, and usual youth tourney results can't say i'm super surprised.
Hopefully the team gets it together and gets good results in the next 2 games. For all we know Ukraine loses their next 2 and we can make it.

Pomykal was bad IMO and Mendez was invisible outside of audacious long shots

We were the better team but the better team doesn’t always win

So is Llanez injured or something?

I hope Araujo starts at RB next game because Dest was very poor defensively.

This team will be alright. They have the talent. Better to get this type of shock out the of the system now than later.

I know he had an assist, but I'm looking to Weah to do more. He just didn't feel connected to the game.

I was afraid they'd have trouble with a big physical Euro side as no one in CONCACAF plays that way. They will also get better as the tournament goes on like the U17's did. They would have been better off playing Ukraine last rather than first but they now need to get it together and win their next one. Become more familiar with each other and do better in the box.

It's funny how no matter how many years go by, US Soccer is always behind the other nations with a soccer culture.

If your DM is causing emergency situations, you’re better off giving up the ball.

Or they could have just subbed him. He was atrocious.

I liked what I saw. Good "futbol" players but you can see the lack of experience.. I still not sold on Weah.
We need a central defender that is LEADER, we need a Ray Lewis in the defense that can lead and play tough againts the opponent's fowards. When was the last time we produced a top defender? Maybe Bocanegra.

Was always going to be a tough game and the tactics and sub didn't change much. UK's keeper and center backs were studs, as were one or two of their attackers. That was a good team, a professional team who knew how to play it, milk the time, ref, etc

We maybe deserved a draw. We held possession and frustrated them a lot, feel like we lacked some nouse though

For me, Pomykal a big plus, he's maybe odds on to break the MLS transfer record, certainly for home growns. New guys plus Weah need to do more. DLF, Dest, and Weah all had some nearly moments as well as good ones. Durkin should've played the first 70' like he did the last 20'. Weird and frustrating performance, but he showed his ability at times. Nigeria is now so crucial and interested to see how UK will stack up, they could go deep in this thing. Would suck very much to play Qatar in the last match for nothing

Ugh. All the pretty possession in the world doesn't matter if you can't create chances inside the box, and if you can't play basic defense. 3 defenders straight across the back, really?

Beaten over the top on several occasions. The entire team looks poor in the air both defensively and absolutely nothing on balls or free kicks crossed into the box.

Bunch of guys trying to poke the ball out instead of making a real tackle. Who was playing defensive midfielder? Did we have one?

Disappointed with our lack of intensity in the 2nd half after falling behind, and even more disappointed with our lack of ideas. Did not show any ability to vary the attack.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

    5 - 3 - 2 in the last 2 WC cycles
    quarterfinals in both
    1 loss in each

    they lose today

either they kick it in high gear against Nigeria and Qatar both and crush it ... and/or Ramos does not have a major coaching career for the US or a pro team. He is 52 years old.

I bet next game they go all out.

    They have nothing to lose.

Ramos is under MAXIMUM pressure now.

Agree with this. A lot of knee jerk reactions and griping about the loss. The US dominated much of the game. Weah was a big disappointment and I sit him next game and start Soto. Bring Durkin off and start servania at the 6 with Mendez and Paxton in front of him. Konrod and Ullyses on the wings.

Just really kind of depressed and disgusted. Waited two years for this?!?! This team, the one we saw today, isn't sniffing an U20 title period. It may not sniff the knockout rounds barring collecting an absolute ton of goals against Qatar and drawing Nigeria (maybe we still advance with a loss but we need goals and to do a good job with the goal difference).

Pinning far too much hope on what we'd do in this tournament, and now just have a hollowed out feeling of despair. Okay, maybe not that bad, but man, that sucked.

I watched the game while I was working so attention wasn't full devoted but the thing I noticed right off the bat is that sometimes you gotta play ugly to win. You cannot always be a finesse team and walk the ball into the net. There were times when I looked up and there was way too much passing in and around the 18 looking for that little pass to break the defense. Maybe said passer should have been a little more selfish and had a go at goal. Mendez did that several times and was unlucky not to sneak onside the post for a goal.

I mean, a draw against Nigeria and a win against Qatar 1-0 and we'll probably go through as one of the 3rd place teams.
