If you know anything about Liberia, it's actually the likeliest outcome. Just because there's a lot of room for things to get better, doesn't mean it's easy to do. That goes for a lot of African countries.
In part is because of that history. The ruling class has been traditionally the descendants of liberated slaves, with last names like Johnson, Charles, Howard, Barclay, Gibson, etc. Weah is different: he's a descendant of the natives there, and is facing the opposition of the ruling class, who have basically boycotted his government. On the other hand, I'm not sure he's not inept. Be as it may, I don't see him taking much time for his children right now.
Fwiw... Here are our 5 picks to star at this year's U20 World Cup:🇺🇸 Tim Weah - ST, PSG🇪🇨 Moisés Ramírez - GK, Real Sociedad 🇦🇷 Ezequiel Barco - ST, Atlanta United🇫🇷 Dan-Axel Zagadou – DF, Dortmund 🇳🇴 Erling Håland – ST, RB Salzburg 💪 Who are we missing? pic.twitter.com/UEoygpB0P8— FotMob (@FotMob) May 22, 2019
Damn, are all French players of African descent over 6'2? I can only think of Kante being 5'7. Every other big player for them is at least 6'1. I don't even think of the French as being tall but so many of their Black players are gigantic, (I'm Black and I don't mean to make anyone uncomfortable. Just an observation).

The physicality of African players and players of African descent has always been elite. No way France wins the last world cup without them.... I wish the USMNT would schedule more friendlies vs African teams - expose who can and can't handle physicality/athleticism - and give more opportunities to that region as well. But looks like the likely snoozefest known as concacaf nations league will prevent that from happening much.
I'd agree to that. I'd love to have had a proper rivalry with Ghana. It shouldn't be difficult to schedule more friendlies with the likes of Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal or Cote d'Ivoire.
Africa only needs to focus on developing elite local coaches (instead of second-class Euro retreads) to continue growing on the world stage.
much better than concacaf minnows.... I think UEFA invented the nations league idea to segregate other nations and perpetuate their hegemony.
I wouldn't disagree. It is quite striking. They seem to want to do away with friendlies that were only cash-grabs but it was nice to see a France vs a Thailand. To see the distinctness in styles. Maybe even see a Thai player get something of a spotlight.
Huh. Didn't realise UEFA forced Concacaf to have a Nations League. The things you learn on this forum.
Why don’t we just have a national team B squad. The hopefuls. Use that team for the CONCACAF nations cup and schedule matches against better opponents for the ATeam
I have long argued we should do more euro/african friendlies for euro-based players and more SA friendlies for the US/Mex based players - cut out all the flying and camping and play more games. But that's just because I like games.
Friendlies had become a joke with several groups selling score and event bets online for them. It was as if half of the Internet already knew who was going to win them.
I wish. But no, we're far behind in the development of a soccer culture when compared to West & North African countries. They'd never have their mainstream press ignoring a national team game.
