Most clubs these days don’t give a coach full transfer authority because that’s a bad management strategy. It’s not about being arms of corporations, it’s about decision making being more than Harry Redknapp getting a bung for signing some British lad or Graeme Souness buying a fake player because he was recommended by “Georgie Weah”.
Sarri is known to be relatively hands off in transfer dealings. He prefers to play with the hand he's dealt. That's not to say he's clueless about what's going on. He might not have initiated the Pulisic interest, but he gave his opinion and he met with him beforehand.
Hell look at what happened to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. I am sure his transfer scandal a couple of seasons ago will keep him out of coaching forever. Shame because he is one of my favorites from The Mighty CFC.
This is why BVB's inability to put the season away is so disappointing. Just don't see Bayern giving other teams a lot of chances to catch them. One of these days they will pull a Madrid, but they're probably going to need to screw up a few transfer windows to do it.
I prefer to look at it as Arsenal should have bought Pulisic. Think he would have actually improved their team.
They may have been the unnamed team (or one of the teams) that met his valuation. Pulisic chose Chelsea from amongst the bidders.
Top four and in a European final and still going to fire the coach? Welcome to the world of impossibly high expectations Christian.
These MegaClubs have insanely high standards. Who'd have thought it when you're dropping $300 million every year
12 managers since 2004 (or looking at it another way, start of the 06/07 season). So like I said much earlier in the thread... volatile. Then again won a CL and a handful of leagues in that time. So some might say depends how you look at it.
Correct... https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/09/sports/christian-pulisic-dortmund-chelsea.html It was also reported (maybe just a rumor though) that Atletico Madrid inquired about CP, but were told a deal was already done with Chelsea.
My bro welcome to the @premierleague I know you gonna smash it ☝🏽💪🏽 you always showed me respect so I wish you all the best 🙏🏽☝🏽@cpulisic_10 pic.twitter.com/BbRQubXxrB— AUBA⚡️ (@Auba) May 22, 2019
It’s actually not about the results. The question is whether or not we rebuild the club to suit Sarri’s style of play. It would take quite a significant sum of money to do it, and a real commitment to get his players, and there’s no guarantee it works. If that’s the case, given that there’s no huge improvement over last year (we finished with two more points) and a transfer ban to deal with at some point, a system manager like Sarri has to be considered.
Given the average league position and player turnover, it’s not the club that has been volatile, it’s the person who manages the first team squad. That’s not the same.
Aren't these things that you would have considered before hiring Sarri? You know he's a system manager, yet you go ahead and hire him; you should give him the resources and time to build his system. You either go all in, or you don't.
The question is whether Sarri could have mostly worked with what he had/has. If he can’t after trying for one year, a decision needs to be made.
Okay, let's talk thread titles. Even though at home I'm the one most likely to shame the family by saying something off color at the dinner table, I eliminated the blue job puns. I laughed at them, but there will be folks who will always be annoyed by them and then they'd direct their annoyance at me and I'm a delicate flower who must be preserved, so we can't have that shit. For similar reasons, I eliminated the ones that were subtle (or less so) expressions of disappointment that Pulisic is at Chelsea. Taking that into account, we've got the musical ones to choose from and they were among the most popular even before the heavy, greasy hand of bungadiri eliminated the others. Kind of Blue: Christian Pulisic at Chelsea Rhapsody in Blue: Christian Pulisic at Chelsea Tangled Up in Blue: Christian Pulisic at Chelsea I like all of them. I might prefer the Miles Davis reference because CP's style is a bit riffy and improvisational, but they're all good, IMO. What thinkest all of thou? (I mean about these three--not about me and my decision making process.)
Thanks for the clarity on this, Bung. I'm going with Rhapsody because that's what I wish for/expect from CP.
