For Mora's farewell match they're trying to get the 2015 Libertadores champs to face off with the 2018 Libertadores squad, with the addition of a few club legends scattered here and there..

If it goes down as planned, it'll be a treat

Well, here's the list of invited players for Mora's farewell match:

Note that Gallardo will be playing, rather than coaching...

So many cracks -- Mune, Ortega, D'Alessandro, Piscu, Enzo, Aimar, Cavegol, Trezeguet, Quintero, Beto, etc, etc, etc..... it really is amazing how many cracks have passed through the club over the years.... and then theres the likes of Acevedo, Vila, Abecasis, Urribarri :p

Overall it's a hell of a list. Will be fun to watch..

La ley del Ex always plays apart.

Lucho gonzález looks like the guy from his first spell at River. A far cry from the miserable second spell in 2015-16. What a turn around at age 38

Need to have faith. We played badly, but greatly improved the last 10 minutes or so. The last few times we went to brasil (Inter, Gremio, Flamengo) we starting out losing, but always managed at least a draw.

    Vamooooos

Good first half so far, they've shown good pressure and attacking efforts. Ponzio is an animal, Pinola at 36 still bossing it up in defense.. Angileri, Pratto, and Martinez Quarta also playing well.

Might be time to bring in Suarez

Now someone tell me what the ******** Lucho Gonzalez is taking. The level of football he's playing is ridiculous..

    VAMOS!!!

If only we had Quintero and Scocco available tonight.. Even with the series tied, I would still bring in Suarez for Borre

Atletico Paranaense were very worthy rivals. Hell of a team, with the speed/class of Rony, the power of Ruben up top, Nikao and Lucho in the middle.. Santos making fantastic stops.

Pero QUE GRANDE RIVER!! DALE CAMPEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This team truly is a side of mentality giants.

Armani always saves his best for the big occasions. Absolutely love this man. Keep him for life. Who gives a rats ass about the Copa de la superliga?

Pratto has made me eat my words time and again. I love this guy now. He had a slow start, but now he is on the path to become an idol. Amazing. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to score a 91st minute winner in an international cup and have 70,000 people going nuts like that. What a player.

This team is not out of any tie. Never say die. Gremio, Paranaense, Boca... late game heroics and come backs I can’t remember a team with these sorts of heroics time and again

    Vamooooossssss

Slightly off topic, but this argentina is awful to watch and makes me miss river even more. Whats worse, I don't feel even remotely attached to any players except for Armani, Pezzella, and Tagliafico- a player i love.

The rest of the team really generates no passion in me. Rodrigo De Paul won't stop rolling around. Reminds me of Neymar. Its disgusting. I hate Otamendi I'm sorry even if he is a river fan. He is a woeful defender. Doesn't seem like a good guy (kicks opponents with the ball while they're on the ground) Paredes, Acuña, Lautaro, its impossible to like these guys.

Not even messi generates excitement in an Argentina shirt. I get 10000000% more excited when Quintero runs with ball than messi. Messi today has been reduced to begging for handballs and fouls. Thats not the messi I fell in love with years ago.

The 2019-20 domestic fixture has just been released, and it looks like we’ll be getting off to a hell of a start. In just the first 5 games we’ll face Argentinos in La Paternal, Lanus, Racing, Talleres, and Boca. Tough but interesting start.

It’s also a bit odd seeing the Superclasico being held so early in the season.

It is worth noting that we will likely debut in the league with subs, considering how the Argentinos match is sandwiched between our two crucial Libertadores R16 matches vs Cruzeiro (July 23 and 30).

    Full Superliga fixture:

Looks like Julian Alvarez is expected to start up front alongside Suarez today vs. Cruzeiro, with Pratto waiting on the bench. Hopefully all goes well...

Feels good to finally return to a copa night.

Hate to say it gentlemen, but I think not replacing Quintero or Pity, not only cost us this game, but probably the Libertadores tournament. Not too mention starting a young and very green Alvarez up front.

Its impossible to find a player of Quintero's quality with in River's budget.

I agree with you that if River had a healthy Quintero, we would be favorites to win the tournament, but he is hurt and I don't think signing a #10 was really our biggest area that needed reinforcements...

Both Nacho Fernandez and De La Cruz ended last season ON FIRE. It just so happens they absolutely sucked on Tuesday night. I think honestly this is more of a product of CONMEBOL's idiotic schedule that has these important Round of 16 matches played after a month off for the Copa America. Had River been in top shape, we would have wiped the floor with Cruzeiro. We were just imprecise and out of rhythm in the final third, just a few inches off from connecting a move, things that come from being in top form physically.

As for starting the pibe Alvarez, I agree he is green, but he has scored goals for River, and he will be fourth choice for most of the season. Blame the idiot Borre for getting suspended.

Oh, and most of all, blame the idiot Suarez for doing his best Funes Mori impression on the penalty. Had that gone in, River would have been in the driver's seat. We got a gift from the gods with the completely unnecessary shirt pull, but Suarez squandered it. It was truly a pathetic effort.

So don't get all worked up about River not winning, River was the better side.

And don't get worked up about MacAlister scoring for Bosta.

Its just one game and I'd rather have De La Cruz and Nacho over MacAlister. No doubt. Sure, he scored a nice goal, but did you watch De La Cruz's highlight real the last six months?

I still think River is in the driver's seat in this tie.
