Playing Gaddis against a bunkering team probably won't end well most of the time.

Every team in the league already realizes how one dimensional he is and plans accordingly - bunker or not.

Seattle was giving him acres of space to move into in the final third...........and.Ray.Just.Wouldn't.Take.It! When Ilsinho came on, when bdeoya wasn't on the right it was Ilson vs. the world.

It would have been great to see Fabian and Ilsinho against this Sounders defense tonight.

Really good tactical sub by Schmetzer to take Nouhou out, as Ilsinho was using him as a turnstile in the second half.

Kacper had a golden opportunity, but headed it right at Frei. He likely wants that one back.

If not not for a clearance by one of the 10 Seattle defenders in the box, Harris' late effort had the corner's name on it.

Aaronson is going to be a hell of a player for this team. Just keeps improving with every game.

Tough one not to get all 33 points from, as they were there for the taking. Still a very good performance from the boys in blue.

Most people at a game in a very long time. Lot A was actually FULL. It took me 10 minutes to find a parking spot!!!!! And there was a freaking line to get in the place a few minutes prior to kickoff too!!!

Second-place team in the East versus second-place team in the West coming into the game. This should have been a showcase match-up for MLS that would have been a great candidate for a national TV broadcast with two of the top teams going head-to-head, yet it wasn't because the schedule disincentivized Seattle from trying to actually compete with the Union rather than bunkering for a point because of their schedule. They'll never be able to eliminate the cross-country travel issue, but the three games in a week on top of the travel is an they could address.

I realize that no one expected the Union to be this good back when they set the schedule, but this is one thing the NFL gets right with their ability to adjust the national broadcast schedule to showcase the best matchups for the TV audiences.

So I had a few thoughts about the game that I'll put here.

    - Seattle was probably very happy to walk out of there with a point. While the had one or two opportunities to score that were genuinely dangerous, the Union pretty much dominated the game in terms of possession, shots, etc.

    - Both Aaronson and Przybylko had the best shots at scoring and Frei basically had to keep them in the game with both attempts.

    - I heard that Philly players were "angry" with the result and you know what? They should be. Seattle was just BEGGING you to score a goal or two with the amount of bus parking that they did and you failed to capitalize. Use that anger and go and beat the shit out of both Portland and Colorado in the coming week there is zero excuse to not throttle both teams.

    -
Ray Gaddis is still useless in the attack, as others have said they pretty much gave Ray acres of space and he just REFUSED to do anything with it. Not to mention he can't cross the ball still. I know it might seem silly, but I wish we still had Rosenberry at that position. At this point I wouldn't mind seeing Mbazio start at RB just to see if maybe we have something there.

    - The ref seemed unwilling for awhile to give out cards. I'm still baffled how in the first half when Kai Wagner was dribbling the ball through much of Seattle's team and pretty much got taken out (forget which Seattle player did it), the replay clearly showed that the Seattle defender was clearly trying to stop Wagner's run and didn't play the ball, a foul was called and no card issued. Not to mention that in the 71st minute Ilsinho was fouled by Tolo (who was already on a yellow) and from what I remember it should have easily been a second yellow. Also Picault could have been looked at for a red when he hacked the Seattle player when the ball was going out/already out of bounds.

    - Santos was pretty invisible for his time on the field. I barely knew he was out there and apparently so did he. In 57 minutes of playing time he had one single shot (not on target).

    - Monteiro couldn't get a good shot on net all game. I love Monteiro but his shots were pretty much all well into the River End all game. Hopefully next game he goes back to being his deadly self.

    - All in all I'm "happy" they didn't lose but god DAMN this was an opportunity to grab 3 more points that they squandered. I know some Seattle fans are talking shit on MLS Soccer (and seriously screw them) about how great their defense was, but let's be honest here that their buttholes were puckered for pretty much the entire game. The Union's inability to get many of their shots on target is pretty much what bailed out Seattle.

Let's be honest............playing defense isn't all that difficult when you place 3 Defensive Mids in front of a back 5. Oh, and the sweeper in the back 5 is Roman Torres.

Aaronson had biggest miss by blasting it over the bar when Ilsinho passed the pall to him. Shooting was dreadful by all all night...
