I don't think he was given the resources. Kaku alone was not going to do it, and he was a Marsch player, anyway. Armas' system is clearly not a good fit for Kaku. But another decent addition or two in the attack was probably necessary in the offseason and the club didn't pull the trigger. Every team if it wants to stay good has to do that every year. Players get old, tactics change, and opposing defenses sometimes figure a player out, and that's that. So you need at least some turnover, and club management has to be willing to spend some bucks to get it done. Unless the club is willing to do it, it won't matter much who takes the reins. They need a d-mid, a winger and a striker or #10. I'll take two of three.

I guess Dallas could take their scouting report and throw it in the trash. Maybe that's a good thing. This game at least proves one thing, there is talent on this team, collectively it just hasn't performed well very often this season.

The Red Bulls won 3-1. I went to and root for Hofstra. Hofstra lost the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Soccer Final in penalty kicks. Sean Nealis, who is from Hofstra, scored the winning goal in his second MLS game and first complete game. https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2019-05-11-fc-dallas-vs-new-york-red-bulls/recap is the recap. https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2019-05-11-fc-dallas-vs-new-york-red-bulls/boxscore is the box score. FC Dallas had much better statistics.

I watched highlights, and I wondered why the announcer said Murillo scored the winning goal when I read it was a header by Nealis. The ball it Nealis's head on the way in.

That has since been corrected by virtually everyone.

    Yes, yes, yes.

Just got back from my first outing of the season to RBA.

In fact my last outing also saw us win 1-0 against Atlanta.

Great resilient win tonite, against the odds. :D

MLS says we have 3 wins and 2 draws in our last 5 regular season games with reds. That includes two wins with 1 red for each club. I can't find this out, but I wonder what the record is for longest undefeated streak with a red. In our last 5 regular season games with more reds their our opponent, we have 1 win, 2 draws, and 2 losses for 5 points. In our last 5 regular season games when our opponent had more reds, we have 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss for 8 points. That includes a draw last year when NYCFC got two reds.

Well congrats on the 3 points. Looks like things got a little testy at the end. Kemar Lawrence is a little bitch. ;)

You guys certainly have our number during the regular season. I'll be there at the July 7th rematch.

Not sure if this season we really turn the corner and become a legitimate title contender again but I will say this. At the very least, we’re giving some younger players playing time and that should make us better in the next couple seasons as we rebuild the roster.

Kemar was just already at playoff intensity:D

Villalba needs to pull his shorts back down because at times he looked like he was wearing a diaper.

Just watched tonight's match with Vancouver. Disappointing draw, but probably a fair result in the end.

I don't like to diss youngsters but our two defenders really exposed our lack of experienced depth.

Nealis, as good a game as he had on Sunday, had kind of a stinker today. And if he can't improve on his slowness that's gonna be a pretty decisive factor.

Duncan is raw and makes tons of mistakes… Many too many for this level. Every game he's played. And he definitely looks more like a wingback than a fullback. But he needs another year of development, maybe more, before he gets back into our XI.

Duncan is where Etienne was last year. I'd say send him back down to USL until the U-23 training camp (Hunh?) Reevaluate his place in the rotation after that. He probably needs an extended run of games/PT in order to really sharpen up his game. He probably also needs some solo work after practice on things like his first touch and ball placement in passing.

At times this relatively inexperienced team was able to ping the ball around with ease, it just accomplished very little. When they tried to make the more difficult penetrating passes, and press the issue with Vancouver, they were very inconsistent. And they were just plain sloppy when going to goal.

Still, Etienne made a beautiful move for a narrow miss early on, and White made a very good redirect for the first goal. There were a lot of things to like in the game. Kaku does seem to have an easier time influencing the game with a younger team around him. I did appreciate his hard work last night. He was chasing down balls, getting back and pressuring opponents. Not bad.

With Duncan being a defender, the tolerances for mistakes are much finer, compared to Etienne at forward. I guess we're a little desperate for cover at FB, but Duncan is just not ready for our first team IMHO.

Great win tonight. Robles earned us those points! And great header by Fernandez to open his MLS account. I'm liking him more and more.

P.s. 3rd place baby! Eat your hearts out NYC and ATL. :p

Lived in the Bronx, a third of my life and though places like Jersey City are a 6th borough of NYC, New Yorkers are inherently prejudice against anything in Jersey. The only reason the Jets and Giants are safe is because they were in New York for a while. People travelling to watch the NY Hotspur (that is my new nickname for us) is rare. Because of location issues and playing in the meadowlands from the start, the team never really took to NY and vice versa. Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that I am a Mets and Man United, I would have switched to NYCFC when they came out.

I am fine with all these lackluster performances. We have won 3 shields in 4 years and that has gotten us not an F-ing thing.

Maybe a season of struggle and chaos before finally finding our stride heading into the playoffs will be good for us.

Oh also, my mom (in nyc) left cablevision for Hulu, so I can no longer use her optimum account to watch games here in Buffalo. How do I get around the blackout? Do I need to spend money on a VPN?

I don't know if local blackouts apply to places like Buffalo that get RSNs from hundreds of miles away. If the games aren't blacked out, you can pay $49.95 or $49.99 per year for ESPN Plus that includes every MLS game not on national TV and a lot more.

The Supporters Shield is out of reach, but the Eastern Conference 1 seed and playoff bye is possible.

I have ESPN plus and use HULu cable or wtf it is called. I just don't know why I keep getting blacked out.

Nice to see a team finally able to fill up RBA...

    the USWNT.

But I can only wonder how horrendous the concession lines were.

Oh it's so much worse when the Citeh fans show up, because they want beer, and the least functional concession is the beer stand.

As much as I like the atmosphere in a sold out RBA, it’s awful navigating the concourses in those games. No restroom or snacks on those days.

Omir Fernandez said in his post-match interview "we just wanted to have fun tonight". They should try to replicate that more often! 4-0 is an emphatic result. :D

And with our last 2 coaches in the house no less.

Great performances from so many guys tonight including: Royer, Murillo, Lawrence.

The last 2 will leave for Gold Cup duty this week. :(
