I didn't see a new thread for this transfer window, so I figured we should have one, since we are already talking about transfers in game threads. I think it's important that we get business done early. Obviously, you want to have the players together for preseason training, but also I think it's important that there is a significant signing early on. This would show other potential signees (as well as some guys we want to hang on to) that the club is serious about contending for trophies. As far as who we should be after, I don't follow world soccer enough to have any brilliant ideas.
Continuity is key. I'd be more than happy starting the season with more or less the same first 11 as this - all fit, fresh, firing and ready to go. There is inevitably a bedding in period for any signings (especially in a fitness based, high impact pressing game such as ours) and it's easy to forget just how good we were until we totally ran out of gas. All that though is rather dependent on Eriksen and Alderweireld sticking around... What we need is more depth, players to be integrated into the system who will play a bigger role as the season goes on - how many injuries might we have avoided and how many more points won if the likes of Winks, Eriksen, Kane, Dele hadn't been playing every minute of every game? Basically we need a better Llorente, a better Wanyama, an alternative to Sissoko, and maybe just another body or 2. A fit Lamela would help too. I'd definitely be asking Monaco if we could trump Leicester for Youri Tielemans' signature, very impressive young player on loan at Leicester. West Ham - one Declan Rice please, that would be hilarious and it wouldn't be long before Dier had some real pressure on his place in the team. Ndidi from Leicester might be another option. The perfect midfielder for us IMO would be Ruben Loftus-Cheek but I doubt they'd sell, finally Sarri seems to have realised the player they have on their hands - hence Tielemans. Or Ruben Neves from Wolves, or Andre Gomes (loan at Everton). Batshuayi might be worth a look (is he only on loan at Palace or did they buy him?). Other than him I'm struggling to see too many good strikers around the Prem, might have to look elsewhere and I haven't been following other leagues closely enough to opine either way. Sessegnon is a good option for the left side if Danny Rose moves on. If Villa don't go up, expect more Jack Grealish chat. He's a hell of a player, but can't help but think he'd be instead of Eriksen rather than as well as...
First off, no way West Ham or Chelsea will sell to us. The priorities are to replace Dier and Trippier, find a Dembele replacement in midfield, an attacking mid and bolster central defence. My candidate wish list: Defenders: Harry McGuire, Willy Boly, Nathan Ake, Wan Bissaka Midfielders: (the Dembele role) Abdouleye Doucouré, Idrissa Gaye Attackers: Diogo Jota, James Maddison, Zaha, Callum Wilson Goalkeeper: Heaton, Butland (or that kid from Bournemouth who played a blinder against us) These are Poch-like players, all good on the ball, all high energy and relatively young.
as I see it, Spurs needs this summer: a destroyer DM to start ahead of Wanyama/Dier. sell one of those two off and keep the other as the backup a replacement for Toby (I am assuming he will be sold Spurs direly need a better fullback, and possibly 2. sell Aurier, he doesn't fit, IMO and finally, Spurs need a backup to Eriksen (if they can keep him) or a replacement (if forced to sell) evaluate fitness of Lamela as well. if he can only manage 10-12 matches, not worth keeping. the reason Spurs are shot to exhaustion down the stretch this season is depth and what depth they did have was always injured to begin with.
This article brilliantly illustrates how our form has suffered since losing Dembele to injury in November. Replacing Dembele isn't just a priority, it must be the highest priority.
€50M for Eriksen, Bale on a two-year loan deal with RM picking up 50% of his wages. Code: Kane Bale Dele Son Could be fun if we find a decent Eriksen replacement.
Andre Gomes, anyone? https://www.sport-english.com/en/ne...close-to-tottenham-move-for-30m-euros-7447845 https://in.news.yahoo.com/gomes-undecided-over-everton-future-151838216.html https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/10/tott...omes-ahead-30m-summer-move-barcelona-9492536/
back in for Sessegnon https://www.thesun.ie/sport/footbal...-wanted-for-the-england-u-21-ace-last-summer/
It's a May Miracle! We signed someone! https://www.football.london/tottenh.../spurs-complete-first-signing-summer-16274030
I'd be over the moon if we managed to snag this fella: Tanguy Ndombele vs Marseille (HD). Une compilation aux allures d'adieu et la sensation de n'avoir pas pu profiter pleinement de ce monstre. L'Europe t'attend @TanguyNdombele.pic.twitter.com/ZTNMQErOEL— Compilations OL (@CompilationsOL) May 13, 2019 The music choice I'm less excited about.
reports are that Sessegnon would rather come to Spurs over United that shows an important shift in transfer mentality, IMO
Chelsea can't sign anyone, and we can't compete with the money & position that the top 2 can offer. Realistically - Man Utd and Spurs will be looking at a lot of the same level of players. We can offer CL football, stability and progression, they can offer money, prestige and chaos. It's a win-win for us. They either sign on the dotted line, or they're the kind of money-motivated mercenaries we don't want anyway
Hakim Ziyech looks like he’ll be available. He looked fantastic against us, probably too similar to Moura and Son though
From what I'm getting in Danish media, the reason Eriksen might well leave isn't really all that much of a question about wages, but more a sense of wanderlust in a "if I want to try another environment it'll better be now"
That's weird, because as good as he is, he will find many places around the world to play 5 years from now. MLS will probably have teams that work for him, as well as China, Saudi Arabia, etc... if it's about how he'd do in another top Euro league, yeah, now's the time... but... really?
Ziyech IS available, he has a 25 million euro release clause. At that price, he is a steal (and a better player in my opinion), than Grealish or Sessegnon, who would cost around 40 million pound each. If we are going to spend 40 mil on a young English player, I would go in for Wan Bissaka of Crystal Palace, as we need to improve at RB.
And so it begins. Spanish newspaper As is reporting that Poch has indicated to the board that for him to stay on as manager, he would like to overhaul the squad by adding 4-5 players. Here is his target list: Tanguy Ndombele, Marseille Lo Celso, Betis Ryan Sessegnon, Fulham Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Palace Wilf Zaha, Palace Nicolò Zaniolo, Roma André Gomes, Barcelona Jack Grealish, Aston Villa Donny van de Beek, Ajax The article also mentions that Real are interested in Eriksen, who Levy values at 130 million pounds, and that Toby is considering playing out the final year of his contract to become a free agent. https://as.com/futbol/2019/06/03/internacional/1559542725_299105.html
'The Goat', one of the regular contributors of IFK on SC has stated that Eriksen has sold his house, for whatever that's worth. I'll add of my own volition that nobody anywhere is going to stump up 130m quid for Eriksen. He ain't that good.
Good point, Chelsea have told Real that they want 120 million euros for Hazard and Florentino Perez is not willing to go above 100 million. Nowadays with all the TV money flowing around, clubs are less willing to sell and set out intentially high transfer fees to discourage potential suitors.
he's also a multi-millionaire, which suggests he might be able to afford accommodations between purchases. believe me, I'm hardly suggesting that ITK is determinant - or even that it's correct. but there are alternatives to either owning a house or being on the street.
That was my point. People move. Just because he sold his house does not mean he is leaving Spurs. Hell, I've always found that an odd predictor for somebody of that level of wealth.
