if not a first division team somewhere....#4 scorer in 2 bundesliga oughta be able to get a first division squad in a decent country to give him a look ...if not in germany at least somewhere decent like Belgium or Netherlands etc

Maybe but he may want to stay and they may offer him more than anywhere else. Can’t blame him for trying to max the dollar at the end of the day.

Wooten and Nova are the two guys we got scoring in Europe, so they should get their chance.

he at least deserves a look at/try out, still old enough for at least 1 WC.

hopefully he should have some decent non-MLS options as well...interesting to see where the top-scoring American in the world this season will end up next year.....

I'm not super enthused about B2 play, particularly on a bad team, but I also recognize that we called up Bobby Wood at 17 g/ 3 a. Wooten is a little older, but otherwise it seems pretty like-for-like to me.

He's been more of a winger IIRC during his time at Frankfurt FSV also, so I figure he's an OK Group Stage sub in the Gold Cup at the least!

Scoring that much when you're on a team like Sandhausen actually increases your value. I can see him going to a 2.BuLi promotion contender, or maybe even a just-promoted BuLi team.

Maybe after Hamburg's capitulation the last few weeks, they would be interested in him. Perhaps as a replacement for Jann-Fiete Arp if his transfer to Bayern happens this summer rather than in 2020.

Brand new interview with Andrew Wooten in Soccer America.

In my humble opinion, it’s the greatest player interview of all time

Bobby was 22/23 at the time. Not too shabby while Wooten is 29.

So, despite a total lack of scoring forwards, we're not supposed to call up the guy who scored 17 in a comparable league to MLS because he's Jozy Altidore's age? And a reminder, Jozy that has never scored more than 15 goals in MLS.

    exactly.

and we're also supposed to use age against every player who hasn't been called up a lot...but look the other way on Michael Bradley being an old, over the hill 31 year old.

it takes YEARS to be properly initiated into the dark arts of the USMNT (they are world renown for tactical wizardry)....if you haven't started to be integrated with them by early 2o's youre f*%&ed. Bundesliga 2 and USMNT are 2 totally different sports - the transition from one to the other is too difficult for a player in his late 20s to make, unfortunately.

so basically the only players in 2 BL who have scored more goals than Wooten this year (3) ALL have significant Bundesliga/La Liga and/or international experience...

Cordoba was a $20 million signing too.

Decent piece of business for Sandhausen to get Wooten for about $100,000.

Sandhausen survives and it wouldn't have been possible without Wooten. Great season.

As he said in the Soccer America interview, his contract is over and he's looking to move on from the 2.Bundesliga and Germany in general.

No matter what, he was a very good 2.Bundesliga forward.
