Good luck with him. His last two appearances for us...We leaked seven goals and he managed to pick up a stupid red card against Toronto. Your captain should be getting stupid brain fart red cards.

The two games without him in the 18? Zero goals allowed...against Galaxy and DC.

Ozzie Alonso is a much better captain, anyway.

Sounds kinda bitter about "El Capitan" leaving the roost.

What on earth would a fan know about the effectiveness of a player’s captaincy?

Calvo is basically a what-have-we-got-to-lose? move. A clear upgrade over the dumpster fire that is Corrales. I like Calvo's versatility. But, at 5' 10", he's a liability at CB. Hopefully, he can channel Segares.

He’s basically the same size as Thiago Silva. I would be fine with him as a CB.

Granted, but one of these things is not like the other.

Puyol, Cannavaro, and Mascherano (played CB at Barca) are all short. Probably want a taller guy defending Edin Dzeko, but it's not required to be a great CB especially if the partner is tall.

Hell I would take Diego Gutierrez at CB at this rate.

    Using the Google Translate:
Holstein Kiel: Kenneth Kronholm on the way to Chicago Fire[IMG]

Again goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm was injured, was also against the MSV Duisburg not in the squad of Holstein Kiel. That the 33-year-old was not even in the stadium, had another reason. One thing that is a lot more serious for many stork fans: Kronholm is about to switch to Chicago Fire in North American Major League Soccer (MLS). He is currently in negotiations in Chicago.

"Yes, Kenneth Kronholm has come to us with the desire to fulfill his dream of Major League Soccer at the end of his career," confirmed KSV sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth. "So we gave him the opportunity to discuss the situation in Chicago."

Should Kronholm leave the club, the 2-1 home win against St. Pauli will be his last game for Holstein Kiel. Because: The transfer window in the MLS closes tomorrow. It would be a flash-farewell of the popular with the audience veteran between the posts. "Ultimately, it's about finding a solution that takes into account the club's sporting interests, but also the individual ambitions of Kenny Kronholm," said Wohlgemuth.

Kronholm had expressed this ambition in the winter already had an offer from Chicago Fire available. Now it comes with a few months delay to the conclusion. And for Kronholm the chance to end his retirement in his native country.

Friends with Basti I wonder? I assume if this goes down one of the other two would be jettisoned. Is Richard Sanchez occupying an international slot? Anybody know?

So we are signing him because he won't take up a international spot. What about will he improve the team. This is a fvcking joke. NRod must go.

Will he improve the team? Well let's consult the same scouting reports as the F.O. http://www.ask8ball.net

I received a reply of "Don't count on it."

To be fair the Fire have been linked to him since at least December . Holstein has been hovering within striking range of the promotion playoff spot most of the season ( they lost that game last season).
They didn't have a suitable replacement and that's why the Fire went for Ousted .

Solid move by the Fire - real competition at GK and if he proves himself by mid summer window , Fire can shop Ousted , clear a slot and possibly bring in a field player.

Unfortunately, his performance last year did not mean the end of Sanchez' Fire career.
