idk. I am not even an amateur tactician, but I think it would take at least a year for our team to get Sarri-ball down. We don't have a year to learn his system. I think Conte has a better chance of figuring out a system to work with the players we have, but most importantly his credibility can bring us in better players and we will finally get rid of the Trigoria vacation mentality. I still feel like it is a long shot to get Conte, but you never know.
It takes time to learn Sarri's system, that is without doubt, but I'm not sure what you mean by "we don't have a year". Why don't we have time to learn a system that makes the collective much stronger than it's individual parts? To me, that's our only hope of actually winning someday.
We need to make top 4 next year - especially since this year is not looking very good. I am not sure that we have the players and time to learn Sarris system and still make top 4. We might not even be able to do it with Conte, but I feel like he has more experience and a better chance of pulling it off next year. If we bring in Petrachi and Conte then Jimmy is done messing around.
Ah, I see what you're saying now. I still think we could be a top 4 side with Sarri in year one. It does take time to learn, but it doesn't mean the first year is a complete write-off. Chelsea had like 10 game unbeaten run to begin this season and Sarri didn't even have a training camp with them. I agree Conte's style is probably better for making the most out of what he has immediately. But for me, I think the pay-off for being patient with Sarri would surpass any initial struggles. I also hate this roster and want us to blow it up, so that plays a part in my rationale. Good point by you, though.
Our roster is certainly another consideration favoring Conte IMHO. Our roster sucks - no question. If we have to blow it up for Sarri then a top 4 finish will be extremely difficult if not downright impossible based on our financial situation. I think some surgical changes with Conte and we can finish top 4. Blowing up the roster is a whole other conversation. It is probably the right thing to do though because our D sucks and are midfield in unbalanced. I think attack could be fixed though. We tried to blow it up with Monchi but he half arsed it. It will be an interesting summer.
If you're really looking for the coach that can take 1 and 1 and make 3, Conte is your guy as he's an ace at taking average players and making them play above their means. IMO a Roma coached by Conte will finish top 4 comfortably. Of course he's going to force the club to dish out some money, but you're going through a rebuild anyway. The downside to Conte is the poor European record and the gobbo dna. With Sarri there might be a pain period that I'm not sure the club will tolerate. As we're seeing with Chelsea, sarriball isn't some winning formula that will get you success immediately. You need the players to play it, and then to learn it. It might take a couple of seasons before Roma are playing at a high level. On a positive note, I can see him doing very well with some of your players. SES, Kliuvert, Under, Pellegrini and Zaniolo can all become lions under Sarri.
Conte, Sarri and Gasperini can all be credited with that and their system being greater than the individual. Conte more on work ethic of the system, the other two on the football side. While I would personally love to see Gasperini get the chance here @Midfield General point about needing a Conte more is a very good one. Roma right now need a proven winner who commands respect. If it remains true that trigoria still remains a holiday camp then that shit won't fly with him 5 mins into his appointment.
If he does come and the lazy version of Dzeko stays how long do you think before the Bosnian finds a foot up his ass?

Di Marzio on Sky Sports 24: Allegri-Agnelli will meet next week whether to decide to continue together or not. If they separate Juve is Contes first choice. Right now Roma is the team trying to take Conte. Conte didn’t say no. Champions league is not necessary for him. Keep an eye on Milan also. Inter, for economic reasons, will most likely continue with Spalletti. If Conte says no to Roma, Roma will go for Sarri.
Why in the world would Juve turn to Conte again? Allegri was 1000x more successful in the CL than Conte. Conte's CL record is abysmal
They didnt have much experience maybe during Conte first tenure. Conte took Juventus when they were out of CL for two years( 7th in 2010-2011, 7th in 2009 - 2010 ). Allegri inherited Conte championship team with more CL experience.
Just a sample of Juve's roster that got booted in the group stage all with CL and international experience; Buffon, Chiellini, Caceres, Barzagli, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Anelka, Vucinic, Quagliarella. That team had more than enough experience to get out of the group. Also, he failed in the CL at Chelsea too

That Juve team went out of a group with Real Madrid in it, and the deciding game was played in a blizzard in Istanbul. The year before that they also went out to the eventual champs. Conte ball is eye cancer tho.
