Nick has been around for a while, he may have just moved into a Director's role that was vacated by someone either leaving for stability or Austin.
A quality team with quality players will keep me buying tickets and attending games more than switching stadium locations!
Yes, he was my rep when I first bought ST in 2007. Been around a while, moved to group sales in 10-11, or something like that. By far the best rep I ever had, I still call him if I need something rather than the revolving door of reps I have had for years now.
He doesn't appear to do LinkedIn, which seems a bit odd for someone in his role. No big deal, of course, except that it's harder for a fan like me who's obsessed with tracking the status of the FO to figure out what's going on.
It does kind of look as though the team slightly restructured this position. White seems to have moved into a role that has parts of what Avin Assomull and our buddy Clark Beacom used to do. So, long time employee, but now in a new leadership position. And being that the two guys who previously did that job ran off to Austin, I have to imagine that not a helluva lot was being done in that area until relatively recently.
I remember that. I remember going to Eddie George's at Gateway after a game as well. Claddagh ended during the 2010 campaign and Eddie George's moved after the 2015 season. I want to say it would have been closer to 2010 than 2015.
I think it's both. He's sold (or attempted to sell) some via Facebook, including at least one epic meltdown, but his collection is insane. It'll be interesting to see what he does at the new stadium, if the tunnel is midfield amongst the premium seating.
Since the CBA has been referenced in here, here's a rundown of what the current agreement says: https://www.rslsoapbox.com/2017/2/24/14720266/mls-players-union-cba-highlights
And about getting an autograph post-game: Prom Night: success! 💃#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/syjsyDYDnR— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) April 8, 2019
Look, man, now that you can't straight-up bribe people to get into colleges anymore you have to work on another hustle.
He was my rep way back in the day when they used to do the Ultimate Tailgate packages. Unlimited brauts and beers before the game...those were the days
Just completed the new stadium survey. There was a comment section at the end, which I took full advantage of. For what it's worth, this is what I my comments were: I very much look forward to this new stadium and a bright future for the Crew. Thoughts: 1) Please consider very highly that Columbus sports fans want a good value. and throughout the ownerships of Clark Hunt and A. Preschool, the fan experience was not a good value. A new stadium downtown will be great, but fans won't pay really high prices for an MLS game just because there's a nice new downtown stadium (and this coming from a huge soccer and Crew fan). The perceived value for a Crew game in Columbus will slowly increase over time, but this will take several years. When the novelty of the new stadium wears off, attendance will drop if ticket prices increase too high too quickly. 2) Columbus is not New York or Los Angeles. We are a small market, and should be compared to other small markets, despite what ML$ and Dong Arber thinks. Columbus people will compare Crew experiences to the Jackets, Clippers, and Ohio State sports, not to the Yankees and Dodgers. Please keep that in perspective. 3) I understand the importance of the high-dollar corporate and business ticket, but I think it is a BAD idea to put field level suites on the East side, where they will be visible to a TV audience. If they sit empty due to poor weather (a roof won't keep out the cold), or there are camera shots of disinterested spectators on TV, it's not a good look. The value gained for TV audiences is for engaged, interested, enthusiastic fans, not suits. (Think: the Nut House at Ohio State basketball games, compared to the days when old, white-haired people sat quietly in those courtside seats.) Put the wealthy suits up at the top of a lower section, or on the west side, where they're out of view of the cameras. 4) Traffic trying to get to that dead-end part of Nationwide Blvd could be really bad. I know there are plenty of parking garages around the Arena District, but there are fans that want an easy in-and-out experience. A pedestrian footbridge over the railroad tracks and into Franklinton would open up more parking options, and would likely help bring people into Franklinton to spend money and patronize new businesses there. 5) It would be really sharp to include arches in the stadium design, akin to the Short North arches. A nice Columbus touch. 6) When we score, can the scoreboard pour out yellow smoke, a tip of the hat to the Mapfre Stadium scoreboard fire? 7) A Crew gear shop, accessible from the streetside during regular business hours on non-game days, akin to the Blue Jackets shop, would be wise for merchandising. 8) I kind of get the trend to a safe-standing area, but one thing I like about Nordecke is you do have the ability to sit down during an injury or at halftime. Is there a way to have a safe-standing supporters area but still have the ability to sit? Like railings in front of bleachers? Thank you for putting out this survey, and for allowing people to make comments. I look forward to a gem of a new stadium downtown, and to many years of Crew fandom. (Yes, I called him "Dong Arber" in the comments. And I didn't put much effort into some of the wording, so I'm sure some of it sounds kind of choppy.)
Safe standing comes with fold up chairs. Each row is tiered, with seats high enough that standing and sitting leave you at the same level (think bar stool).
I’ve seen pictures of safe standing areas with fold-up seats for non-soccer events, and the seats are “locked” during soccer matches so they can’t be used during matches. I’m not familiar with the bar-stool seats. I would much prefer the latter.
For anyone complaining about ticket prices, have you seen Jackets tickets? Right now for the Playoffs the cheapest upper bowl ticket is $77. Lower bowl start at $124. Club level $218. Yes, it's aftermarket tickets for the playoffs, but I have sat lower bowl (for free) and noticed the price on the ticket around $100. I think our owners would be ecstatic to get those prices and it's proven people in Columbus will pay for tickets if the product is valued.
Sometimes the seats are tucked back under the guardrail behind you, so they aren't something you can lean back against (at barstool height). For example: Other types seem to allow for you to rest your rump against the folded up seat, such as: I think LAFC's supporters section may be similar to this. Good lord, but I want to see the next generation of our stadium renderings.
Clearly, MLS isn't valued. That's what happens when you have at best a fourth tier league shitting on a market for over two decades. MLS only has itself to blame.
I agree. The "safe standing" seats seem like a waste of money. Just put regular bleacher seats there. I guess the problem with bleacher seats like we have now is that people sometimes stand up on the benches causing damage and increasing the chances of injury. Perhaps that's why teams/stadiums would prefer the style pictured above.
Seems to me, the point of having a standing area is to have people, you know... STAND. Bleachers get in the way of that. It eats space. And having seats that fold up allow for more room to jump around and be rowdy.
Based on the pictures above, there doesn't seem to be much additional room compared to what we have now.
Guess I'll measure on the 20th, but I assume the depth is much, much greater. Orlando City's safe standing area has 33" of "tread depth." The rail is 36" high. You don't have 33" of depth at Mapfre, or any fixed seat area. It's why I always climb over bleachers to avoid having to ask fans to stand up in order to let me squeeze past. That said, I don't necessarily have strong feels either way when it comes to thee kinds of seats.
