I like baseball alot. But I'll never attend a baseball game in person unless it is: A. Perfect weather B. An important game (like playoffs) C. Free tickets in an expensive location (suite, etc.) Any other time, there are just way too many good options to watch games via the TV, or at bars, especially with the number of home games available. I don't know how NBA, MLB and NHL games get season ticket holders. I like those sports just fine, but committing to 40 to 81 home games is a bit much. Sitting that long outside in crappy weather is a no-go. I have enough of that with the Crew
I used to go to Durham Bulls games on a whim, just to hang out in the ballpark atmosphere and kinda sorta watch the game. But it was cheap. And I never, ever stayed until the 9th inning. In fact, I don't ever recall if they won or lost any of the games.
Went to the BlueJackets game last night (6-2 loss) they handed out Hats and key-chains for my patronage. Attendance: 18890 There are sports fans in Columbus. I don't have the answers, but something needs to be done with the Crew to tap into the the right markets.
You are leaving out that this was the final home game of the season for a team that is on the verge of the playoffs...
With a Goalie who was just named the first or second star of the entire month, and a fantastically skilled player in Bread. It would be like having Almiron and Steffen on the same team.
Correction: 13,684 is the May all-time average. April's is 14,137. 15,000 would still be OK, but obviously more is better. Average attendance is up 35% on 2018: 9,511 (2018) vs. 12,864 (2019).
I also signed the pledge and didn't follow through. I talked it over with the spouse and we agreed to get 4 pack of tickets for the two of us. But then she moved out and a whole lot more that buying Crew tickets went on hiatus.
"final home game"...and has averaged 17k for the season (not just a one off game.) "on the verge of the playoffs" ie a slightly below average team. (30 teams total, 16 make playoffs, Bluejackets are tied for the last playoff spot.) Never heard of Bread. If you're talking about Panarin, you mean the disgruntle "superstar" that wants off the team because the city sucks; I don't think he is the reason people are showing up. Crew has Steffen, Trapp and Gardes, all National Team stars. Until Steffen leaves the Crew has more US National players than any other MLS club. *Shrug* seems a wash to me. A lot can get misread or misunderstood when typing on a forum. So allow me to apologize if my initial Bluejacket posts came across confrontational, or if this counter point reply comes across standoff~ish. We are all Fanatics of the Crew, and on the same "team." I was simply trying to point out that it's possible to bring fans out to a Columbus based sporting event.
Come on. Those Promotions suck. Penalty Kicks and $5 beer. Whooo! There were so many free hats floating around the Bluejackets game on Tuesday I got 5 of them. Anyone need a hat?
Just got this email from my rep: I guess my only question would be that I don't have any idea what this is about. A "Crew SC event"? What the hell does that mean? Is it an event, or some sort of ticket "pre-sale"? And if it's the latter, what would I be pre-buying tickets to?
Between the Higuain PK miss, and all those post-game PK kicks, I think they are scouting for a new PK taker.
My guess is it could be for a yet unannounced Crew friendly in the summer. Is this how they've built up to such announcements in previous years?
Are the women's world cup tune up matches already announced? That was what came to my mind. That or a concert/festival.
One of my friends was wondering if it was going to be extra tickets to the Hell is Real game. I don't believe single-game tickets are available for sale yet online for that, and they may want to try to get more crew fans than cincy fans buying up the tickets. If that turns out to be true, I will be sad.
someone on reddit pointed out that the letters "h" "i" and "r" are in bold. Hell Is Real. Maybe away-section stuff, or maybe a ticket promotion for the home leg.
Oh you're right, my ticket rep did not do that but my parent's rep did. Man I dislike announcements for announcements.
My rep wrote it this way: "I wanted to reach out in regards to an upcoming Crew SC Season Ticket Holder Pre-Sale!"
I want to know who is responsible for scheduling FCC/Crew so late in the season. No reason for the Crew to not have been the league opener down there.
Can't really start turning Mapfre into the training ground until the new stadium is done, right? (If that's not what you meant, please disregard this conclusion that I've jumped to)
