Why the hate against Morelos? Duvan didn't play any better. Cant blame the strikers for the horrible first half.

Agreee i thibk that with james in field he would have had more chances...

Actually he moved better than duvan in positioning....

And his minutes with japan werent bad...he assist the diaz action.

I don't think it is hate to say to give up on Morelos for the Copa. He missed a clear chance against Venezuela and a clear chance today against Korea.
Yes , he does provide other attributes like good positioning and did not look out of place when it comes to his skill and passing but there are other options people want to see get a chance in June.

It will be interesting to see if Borja or even Santos Borre regain their form and are given consideration. They are all basically at the same level. I would personally pick Borja of the three but that is jut my opinion.

Morelos as a super sub with Muriel I want to see that

I wanted to go to a 4-3-1-2 but with Diaz performance then a 4-2-2-2 is what I want to see next

    —————Falcao—-Duvan*———
    Diaz————————————James
    ——Uribe—————-Lerma/Barrios
    Fabra/Mojica—-Mina—-Sanchez—-Arias
    ——————-Ospina———————

For striker wouldn’t mind seeing Borre get the nod over Falcao or Duvan as he can play more of a Teo Role

As for strikers today how many chances did they get? 80 bad crosses when 3-4 Koreans were covering them.

I know he wanted to play on the wings but after the 50th failed cross and with James on the field playing through the middle is the better option.

For a friendly I want to see Cantillo get a shot in the Uribe role who was horseshit today and Uribe-Lerma mf.

Uribe in america is playing like this......he isnt 5 anymore and have been advanced to the second line..........and imho he hasnt enough creativty or plus to be used there.....so he should recovered his level as 5......

Borja is pretty good but we know what his level is, he is not going to get any better than he already is. Morelos is very young and he could be the future of the nt. He hasn't yet shown anything in these few minutes but isn't it totally reasonable to expect him to rise to the level where he is at Rangers - or maybe even higher? He could end up being a failure, but how do we know that without giving him a chance? Missing a chance or two means nothing. Falcao misses chances all the time.

If we are only thinking about Copa America then I agree that it is a tough battle between those three. But that is just short term thinking.

We need a playmaker, I don't care if It is Cardona, James, Pachequito, Neider or the Princess, always one in the midfield.

    Good things from this friendly:

Díaz was very good. Worked very hard on his wing and was outstanding in the goal. He is another option to take corner kicks too, the two he took in the end were almost scored.

Sánchez was solid overall, the best of the three center backs that played.

Orejuela was decent the second half and I think he could build good chemistry with Quintero when he returns, he is incredibly fast even though It didn't show today and could really use a good through ball.

    Meh:

Villa is a super sub. He isn't very useful right now.

Duvan and Morelos: Duvan had to become the link between attack and defense and was wasted completely. Morelos made some good runs but was irrelevant overall. Almost connected the only decent cross that Villa made.

    The bad:

Cuéllar and Uribe: woeful. They were disconnected by a very fast and strong Korean midfield, Cuéllar specially looked bad, losing the ball constantly and missing easy passes, It was like watching lerma against Japan. Uribe was irrelevant but had to work double defensively.

Borja: I've said It before and I'll say It again, playing Borja, Palacios or Machado is like playing with 10 players, horrible defensively and useless offensively.

Murillo deserved a red. What a moron.

Arboleda: doesn't exist anymore in my opinion. The Koreans shot 4 times, three times directly to his body and one a bit far but not with a lot of power, 2 went in. When a GK doesn't fill you with confidence everything begins to crumble, It reminded me of Barthez in his last years at united, you just knew that there would be a least one "cagada" per Game.

The subs really changed the Game, specially James and Muriel, Falcao was active but I would have liked to see Duvan play more time with him and James in the field. Barrios also anchored the midfield very well.

    outside your realm
south american teams have good offense but poor defense. they play with too much ego so they abandon defense. that is why you see stuff like mexico 0-7 chile, brazil 1-7 germany, etc...

CQ is a defensive coach. if he can get colombia to commit to defense, while relying on counterattacks, you guys can go far both in copa america and world cup. in copa america you will have the advantage over all the other south american teams with poor defense (except uruguay).

in the world cup we saw what CQ did with Iran.. had our strikers had decent finishing we would have advanced from the group of death with spain and portugal. but unfortunately finishing has always been our weak spot. but colombian players seem to have better finishing, so you guys can achieve goods thing under CQ. however, i am not sure if your defense will be as disciplined as Irans under CQ... colombias success under CQ will all come down to how good your defense can get.

Thanks for you post and good point. I have good sesnations with queiroz...for me he is logic befor defensive...

but i think you are not very informed about our style:

You cant compare Colombia style with brazil and chile....Actually if colombia have hsitroical problems is in attacking despite the talented players.........the defense always have been a guarantee....or more solid than the attack.....i

Isnt common that colombia received more than 2 goals in a match....

almost alaways in wcq colombia is the team with less goals received .....less than urguay...it happened in 2002, 2006, 2014 and i will check in if 2018.

Didn’t watch the game but I’m sad to hear Arboleda was a bust. How desperately we need a new young good GK. Did you guys hear about the Colombian GK debut with Sevilla’s first team?

It was a friendly. Maybe in a year or two if he keeps performing he Will get a real shot. Usually Sevilla gives a chance to Young GKs, hopefully his chance comes sooner rather than later.

Doubt it Sevilla is going after Radu who is 21 and Inter want to buy back from
Genoa. Hopefully Inter Buy Him and send him on loan in Italy. So Garcia can get a shot.

I still think Banguera is a promising GK.

Arboleda didn't impress anyone and he knows it himself. But it's not unusual a young player shits his pants when he is given the opportunity. I used to play different sports when I was young and I often underperformed just because I was so nervous. I can't even imagine what it's like to debut as a professional.

Confidence means everything, and it's something you get only with experience.

I’m concerned for him. I read an article somewhere that Banfield are willing to let him go ASAP for how’s he’s been performing. I thought he was promising. Hopefully it was just nerves. God knows that Ospina has had his blunders let’s all be honest here.

Bruh... He has played almost 50 pro games with Banfield. It's not like he had played 7 games in the league and out of necessity he was thrown to the wolves. I don't want him anywhere near this team.

I don't know anything about Arboleda so I can only comment about todays game.

But if he plays like shit for his team why would people expect him to prerform well in yellow?

Banguera isn't. Just keep Ospina and Vargas and hope for the best. Maybe one from the younger generation of kids turns out good.

Not to be a drag, but it's good to have a decent third option. Ospina spends a lot of time injured and there could be situations where the third keeper is thrown out to the wolves. I guess Cuadrado is back in the picture, and then Montero will have a chance.

    Positives
    - glad to see several non-recurring players get minutes today
    - Luis Diaz played like if he was in the driver's seat of his future
    - frank fabra will hopefully return soon
    - 5 subs by min 65 was nice to see

    Areas of concern
    - mina's injury (made of glass?)
    - constant reliance on desperate crosses - why can korea string some nice passes and get good shots on goal and we struggle with finding a clear shot on goal
    - korea dictated the pace of the game from opening whistle
    - depth chart for GK (ospina is made of glass and hardly plays at the club level; the others.....)

    1. Arbodoleda - awful....but it can't get any worse with him...right?

    2. Orejuela - not opposed to seeing him again.

    3. Borja - when does Fabra come back? Borja did have a nice shot on goal; but i think he was skinned pretty bad by HM Son for that first goal

    4. Mina - didn't really see how he got injured. his durability is a concern of mine.

    5. Davison - felt like he was having a rough time with HM Son (his Tottenham teammate); otherwise i thought he was solid

    6. Cuellar - wasn't impressed today

7, Uribe - glad to see him wear the armband at the start of the game. tough day for him and Cuellar in the midfield.

    8. Villa - seemed more comfortable today, but he has a way to go before i would feel comfortable with him being a starter. sub-role? definitely. Did have a brilliant pass that Morelos could not finish.

9, Luis Diaz - bright spot of the game. Felt he really showed something today - dropping back on defense and making runs and trying to create space with his passes. Even without his goal, i was very happy with what i saw out of him today. he wanted the ball and it showed throughout the game. hope to see more of him over time - he showed some of that intestinal fortitude that we saw out of Cuadrado in his early appearances with us.

    10. Morelos - wish he could have finished on that Villa pass in the 1st half; could have set a different tone. i'll give him a pass b/c he was working with an alternative lineup. i'm on the fence with him. If Miguel Borja or Borre are showing form and consistency by May, I won't complain if we see Borja/Borre instead for the CA

    11. Duvan - you could see him putting in the work and dropping back several times to recover the ball. really hoping to see him take off during the CA.

    Subs
Jeison - i saw him have two good moments defensively, but the card he got was foolish. those kind of antics work well in a Sunday YMCA adult league.

James - you could see things change possession wise when he came on for 2nd half

Falcao - had a header or two that i really liked. would have preferred seeing duvan stick it out for another 10 minutes

Muriel - like last game - had a few moments of brilliance. still waiting for that execution to come through

Barrios - would have preferred seeing Lerma-Uribe getting those minutes together. Uribe-Barrios is the preferred combo at the moment.

Chara - didn't see much - but glad to see him play.

i lost my internet connection with 2-3 minutes left in the game; by the game i was up and running again - the game ended 30 seconds later.
