Finished "Hellblade - Senua's Sacrifice". It might just be the most impressive game I've played in years. What a journey! What a heroine! What an incredible atmosphere! I hope the studio will be able to continue working in their style under Microsoft's ownership. It would be a major pity if the ingenuity of this game would be a one-off. I feel almost bad for only paying 15€ for it.
Anyone try Anthem yet ( I am on PC version)? Liking it so far. Still has bugs since the official release is the 22nd but basically it’s a destiny game with all the improvements I wanted. Pros: Better graphics Better and more traditional leveling system vs a gear based system that made no sense. 3rd person view. I just don’t like first person. I like to see my toons animations Easy PVE grouping system which Destiny didn’t have ( at least when I played Cons: Essentially requires a SSD due to long load times and even then they long. If you fall behind the group you will be teleported ( additional load screen). This HAS to be fixed No HUD/ minimap Overall liking it a lot.
Seems like the game is polarising the opinions quite a bit. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=LLMfcB8II9TdWHEj6itNuryQ I loved the BioWare games of old, so it's probably a hard pass for me.
That link is broken FYI. Yeah I agree. One thing I didnt mention is no PVP which I find unfortunate. I am not a big PVP guy, but I find it helps pass the time between major content patches, and is a nice change of pace. (Far from a gamer-breaker for me.) Devs have said it hasn't been ruled out for the future, but not a priority. Most people on the forums just don't want want class balancing being effected by nerfs/buffs due to PVP and want separate balancing than PVE which I agree with. Tomorrows patch looks to help fix the load times which is the biggest complaint currently. (They didn't mention the teleporting issue while in a group so that irks me.) I am going to give it a long leash to turn me off to it, as I want to see how proactive devs are addressing player suggestions/complaints.
Ah, sorry about that. I was listening to this detailed review earlier and Anthem seems to have severe issues:
Picked up Farcry 5 on for $15.00, 9 hours into the game and I'm really having a good time with it. Great story and lots to do with side missions and such, some repetitive but it's no big deal. Guess my only complaint, and it was the same for 4 is the driving is a bit clunky, I do wish there was an option to take driving into 3rd person.
So a 72 metacritic rating for Mass Effect: Andromeda killed Bioware Montreal, and all post support plans for the game. Right now Anthem is at 60. Yikes. Wonder what that will mean for the studio. How the mighty have fallen.
After finishing Wolfenstein: The New Order and being several hours into the new Doom I have to conclude that I am just too old to still thoroughly enjoy first person shooters. I had a good and fun time in Wolfenstein and Doom is shaping up to be at least as good, but somehow it's not my genre anymore. I can even point to my main issues. I am fond of strategic combat and I see myself sniping enemies from a distance in scenarios where the game is obviously designed to just jump right into the fray and slay one enemy after another while losening hundreds of shots. *sigh*
I'm still building up my expertise, (such as it is), in Elder Scrolls Online. They have some good dungeon/trial quests but the teamwork ones, where you're thrown in randomly with a group of 3 other people, can be challenging if you get some bellend who spends all the time complaining about the other players. You can also use discord to coordinate your play which is good but I haven't got a mic on my headset so I can hear them but not them, me. Probably for the best
Apex legends is great and I hear the battle pass will only be about 10 dollars Or 7 quid here Really good online with a squad
I realised I HAVE got a headset with a mic and have spoken to some guy abroad, (Norway, IIRC), who, thankfully, spoke good English. Having said that I haven't actually done any trials, dungeons or whatever, using it so not sure how it would go.
I have been playing since beta, although not as much anymore so if you have questions let me know. My handle is @tourniquet if you want to meet up in game. I know the game pretty well. If you haven't played a MMO before it can be overwhelming.
Yeah, that last comment is accurate The thing is, having been retired for a long time I play quite a lot so it means I've built to a lot of championship points, (cp). This has the unfortunate side effect of making people think I'm any good at the game when, tbh, I'm not. My reactions are slow nowadays and my eyesight isn't the best, even with the reading glasses I have to wear to be able to play the game at ALL now. So my cp, which is about 440, could probably be divided by about 4 or 5 for a more accurate representation of my actual ability. That's also why I only play PVE rather than PVP. Having said that I've now started doing dungeons and trials which are interesting. But even there, because I haven't done them very much and don't 'know' them, I don't know the mechanics of the various opponents so can end up getting totalled pretty early on. Having said that I'm now getting to know the better known ones. I've even managed to complete halls of fabrication and didn't die ONCE!!! But, yeah, I might put a msge when I'm going to be on next with my screen name, (which I forget atm ), so we can meet up
I've just realised that I'm on the EU servers whilst you're probably on the US ones. As it happens I do have a character, (a dragon knight), on the US one which I started a while back but he's a lowly lvl 14. IIRC my character name is SomeOldCodger13. I'll post when I'm going to be on next and, if it's convenient' we can have a chat
The reason it is so cheap might be because there is nothing worthwhile in the first one. I like the game but at this point the battle pass is a rip-off devoid of content.
I'm on level 22 now and my name isn't SomeOldCodger13, it's SomeoldCodger. I've just remembered that you can send me an invite to add me as a friend and then when I log in, a message appears on screen.
I cannot recall another game I played in which the gameplay is as fun as in "Rise of the Tomb Raider" while the story and cut-scenes are complete and utter garbage.
I loved GTA V always felt guilty about it the content makes it something I don't want to play, just being free and driving around as escapism goes was a wonderful antidote to many a stress, never did online just the first player I hear online is a mess now, also reckon it's not time wasted, any kind of environment where you have to react fast, things like situational judgement tests for example here, any work need skills with behaviors similar to game mechanics, only reason I don't game so much now is just because making money and building stuff in the real world finally got more fun than the game world, wasn't always like that.
Just saw this. I will add you. If you are interested I am in the process of grinding out Undaunted reputation (4 man dungeons) on my warden so we can do that if you would like.
Finished Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Really an enjoyable series. Had a lot of fun with these two games even thogh the story presentation of Rise of the Tomb Raider had its issues.
@thebigman They rebooted Tomb Raider three games ago and started anew with the very young Lara Croft. Imo all three games are very good and enjoyable while having some minor weaknesses here and there. But that shouldn't stop you from giving them a try. Definitely recommend them.
