You mean we’re not in the clear yet? Ugh. Really hoping the loss to Bermuda doesn’t come back to bite us.
It’s going to rest mostly on Canada winning or drawing, even if Nicaragua wins and either DR or Bermuda win we will still be in 10th and qualify. The worst case scenario is French Guiana, Nicaragua winning and the DR/Bermuda match having a winner. (I want Nicaragua and Dominican Republic to qualify, but not at our expense.) El Salvador is going to dominate League B though only Jamaica is a real threat for 1st place, although Goal differential could have an impact.
I wouldn’t say we would dominate group B at this point. We lost to Bermuda bairly beat Montserrat. We have some talented players but our system is in shambles and that will continue to drag us down.
I made a mistake in saying that Jamaica would be in our way of being 1st in League B, since it’s 4 groups of 4 with the 1st place team getting promoted to League A, so we will not be seeded with them when it starts. I disagree yeah we lost 1 game vs Bermuda but we will be grouped with mostly C even D tier teams, and in that format 1 loss might not have as big as an impact as it did in this format. Also this format allowed some crap teams to qualify to League A and they will be smashed 100%.
Yeah the way this League system was set up was deeply flawed. I guess they want some of those nations to get some sort of payoff from visiting fans of the stronger NTs. The question though will they show up?
This Qualifying format is a one off, thank God. When the actual league starts balance is going to be restored. We will jump around from League A to League B, if the time ever comes when we get relegated to League C then that means we have hit a new low, but I don’t expect that to happen unless our Fed and NT get Suspended by FIFA aka a situation like what Guate went through. League A is going to be rough 3 team group with the 3rd place getting relegated to League B so staying in League A will be hard.
We’re probably in the Gold Cup thanks to Canada. I hope I’m not jinxing it but i just don’t see them losing at home to French Guyana. But this team is still flawed. Yes we won today. Jamaica gifted us two goals. We’re qualifying in 10th place most likely. We lost to Bermuda. Our strikers are NOT scoring (that mess up by Blake was a gift) we will be EXPOSED when playing against bigger and better NT. As of right now, I’m happy because I’m pretty sure we’re gonna see ES in the Gold Cup but the problems lying underneath are just waiting to be shown.
Canada has a good team, they should win. Lets see how the fares against Peru before we judge. Also ES hadnt beaten Jamaica in 19 years.
Groups of 4 with possibly Montserrat again or Nicaragua, Republica Dominicana, Suriname, Guadalope, and or A&B I don’t see us dominating those countries. If we are generous we can make the argument that we are a tear above them but as we showed this entire qualifying tournament we go to their country things even up. As others have said we aren’t getting many goals from our forwards yesterday’s goals where gifts from Jamaica. Not much goal production and in their country those games could easily go either way much like the Montserrat game
Canada’s 4-1 defeat of French Guiana means ES has not only progressed to League B, but have also qualified for the Gold Cup. Even if Nicaragua defeats Barbados, ES will be pushed down to 10th but still qualify regardless.
Anyone got any predictions for the Lineup tomorrow? Plan on watching even if we get beat. Wanna see how they do against a much better team
El Salvador has defeated Peru 2-0. Oscar Ceren scored the second goal, while the first was an own goal. We only had 39% possession, and only made one shot while Peru made 20 (7 on goal). http://www.espn.com/soccer/matchstats?gameId=532974
So now that we’re obviously at a UEFA level I think we should make the move! but man what a funny ass game. Ceren made this a fun night.
Wow incredibly one sided match, but unfortunately for Peru and fortunately for us this time that it was not the guys that deserve the win that actually get it. But the guys that get the most goals. Well even that comment is not true in this match lol. Fortunately for us, Peru’s only goal was an own one. Either way good for the guys, playing and hopefully they got some decent experience and exposure our boys need!! Viva La Selecta!!!
DLC might be turning things around like he did 2007 going into 2008. Stick a fork in the Turkey U20 team though. They bring almost nothing to the table. Want to see K.Santamaria, M.Marquez, Cerritos Jr. play some games.
Man this team really makes people eat crow huh? Credit where credit is due. They did well and it takes a lot to keep a clean sheet having 7 shots on target. We had lady fortune on our side these two match days and i think it’s about time! Like someone mentioned above, there is still a lot to be desired especially in terms of finishing. But truth be told, as of right now it looks like we’re headed in a good direction. Maybe De Los Cobos will pull some magic. We’ll see. As of adding new players, tbh i think DLC will do no such thing until after the Gold Cup. Which is understandable. We’re doing well, have a win streak (4?) and are headed in a positive direction. Keep the flow going.
Our win streak is Vs Haiti, Guate, Jamaica and Peru. All respectable teams (at least in CONCACAF). It’s a positive that we beat Peru despite the fact we did not field our best possible line up against them especially when it comes to offense.
Just remember, we lost to f*cking Bermuda of all teams. How did the 2013 U20 WC players ie Granitto, Carabantes and Coca perform, if they played at all? Good to see that squad hasn’t gone to complete waste.
It looks like El Salvador is in this tournament too. Probably thanks to Nelson Bonilla. This might help players get scouted to go to Asia. The only thing is El Salvador's Federation hasn't said anything about this. They haven't confirmed that the national team will be playing in this tournament. https://vietnamnews.vn/sports/51815...ings-cup-in-thailand.html#m6rXoH8qLUAl5PT8.97 https://www.vietnambreakingnews.com/2019/03/vn-footballers-to-enter-kings-cup-in-thailand/ https://worldtimes.news/vn-footballers-to-enter-kings-cup-in-thailand/ https://english.vietnamnet.vn/fms/sports/221133/vn-footballers-to-enter-king-s-cup-in-thailand.html
