Hey, I'm writing an article on the Red Stars right now, just an introduction to the club for any people who don't follow them already. While I know where all of the usual Red Stars play, my problem is the new players. I just want to know where exactly they play, because "defender" can mean center-back or full-back, a winger can be listed as either a "midfielder" or a "forward" and that's what I keep finding. So if anyone has any insight on where exactly these new draftees and signings play it would be really helpful. I've just spent maybe an hour trying to figure out if Christina Murillo is a centerback or a fullback and I just can't find anything.
I can't help you, @Jiggly_333, because I don't know at all what the positions of new Red Stars players are, but I stopped by anyway to praise your Albert Camus avatar!
Murillo played CB for Michigan. So I'd guess that's what she still plays. For the draft picks (according to Chris Henderson) they play: Tierna Davidson - CB, DMC Maria Sanchez - LM, MC Bianca St. Georges - RB Kayla Sharples - CB April Bockin - RF, CF Hannah Davison - CB Jenna Szczesny - CF

A letter from the Red Stars owner on 10 years of Red Stars play and I have been there from the beginning on this ride. http://chicagoredstars.com/10-years-a-letter-from-the-owner/
Thanks for posting the 10 year letter, MRAD12. Really am teary-eyed reading the letter and so love the CRS and have from the beginning. I proudly call it my team. Unrelated: seeing word that the Fire will leave Toyota/SeatGeek next year and go downtown to Soldier Field and change their name too, if true. Interesting to see if/how that impacts CRS.......never a dull moment!
I've been reading about this Fire move on the Fire thread and I can't figure out if it is true or just an April Fool's joke.
I have an extra parking pass for april 20. If you want it free send me an address I can mail it to at john3442@comcast.net
Agree. Zoey was drafted last year but didn't make the full squad and spent time on the Red Stars Reserves where she did well. She was rewarded this season. Maria Sanchez, IMO will be a special player. She has a left foot that puts a wicked curl on the ball. Will be extremely dangerous with crosses into the box from the left side and set pieces from both left and right sides.
The ones I can think off the top of my head are: Kayla Sharples - Northwestern - Eclipse Select Hanna Davidson - Northwestern - Eclipse Select Christina Murillo - Chicago Fire Community Embassador Jenna Szczeny - Played for Red Stars Reserves last season - Local kid Erin Yenney - was contracted by Red Stars toward end of last season Alison Jahansouz - Goalkeeper Chandra Eigenberger - last season Red Stars Reserve These players will probably be on the Red Stars Reserves, of which the Red Stars take seriously to develop players. From my understanding, the Reserves practice with the First Team every day. I'm willing to bet once the 5 or so National Team players leave for World Cup, many of these players will get a call-up to the first team.
I just read the above season preview for the team and there was not one word about Morgan Brian. She is a Red Star, yes? How do you not mention Morgan Brian and at least ask--or ask and answer--the question: is she healthy? Will she be playing to start the season? Kind of a big hole in the preview, no?
