I'm sorry but...Spuds so envy Arsenal's success. Train station close to new staidum to be renamed Tottenham Hotspur. If you Spuds hate Arsenal so much, why are you trying to copy them then?!
supposedly it's part of an effort to dissociate connotations between the club/stadium and the name White Hart Lane (that of the station) as we pursue a stadium sponsorship package. no idea whether or not it's true, but I can say that it's not an effort to spin it - the folks saying so are bitching, as they want to retain the WHL identity and are lamenting the chasing of the almighty pound.
I haven't followed the new WHL development virtually at all. Are your new digs going to have some lovely corporate name? And for how long do those naming rights last?
I don't think it's been finalized. About a week ago, folks were saying it's Nike and implying that it was going to be announced any day. But that was a week ago. So who knows? One thing's for sure, if we don't have some corporate name, we'll have a whole different set of problems.
I wish you good luck* with your new home. Sincerely. And you may be happy to hear that I, for one, will continue to call it WHL, The Lane, etc. *To be clear... not good luck in the playing sense or in the place in the standings sense.
I don't begrudge S***s doing everything they can to raise their club up. I actually credit them for producing a great new stadium without needing a sugar daddy, which I consider a pox on the game. What I do hate about this are that a) the club sold this as an absolute need for their business model, which is foolish, and b) that they've contrived a means to get out of paying for the change. Changing addresses and directions to places is actually a costly thing, so if a vanity project gets to rename a major train station the absolute least the team should do is compensate everyone for having to accommodate the change.
Yeah I reckon for the business model to be successful you definitely need a backer (i.e. Qatar Airways Arena or something like that). The overruns certainly did not help their cause any.
Don't want anyone to think that I have sympathy for Spuds but...I'm kinda feeling a little dicey for their lot with the CL QF v. Citeh and the remainder of the league schedule with this new stadium opening nearer the end of the season than say waiting for next season and having a proper opening/getting used to the new surroundings.
yeah, it's been discussed ad nauseum amongst Spurs fans as to the right thing to do regarding the opening ... next year ... this game … that game … CL … weekend, not weeknight … all kinds of stuff. one of the more knowledgeable people - and I mean, this guy's in major development/construction stuff in London, and he really knows his stuff - has quite emphatically stated that the club will absolutely open it at the first possible opportunity, simple as. the relative costs of playing each game at Wembley makes it imperative to play as many at ours, and as few at Wembley, as at all possible. it appears he was right. I, too, am concerned that it might adversely affect our form, but it'll be what it'll be. regardless, we're going home. and there isn't anyone (Spurs-related, anyway) who isn't happy about that. I will be at the CL first leg and our second League game v Huddersfield, assuming I can get tickets for each. and I cannot wait. I may not like the new stadium, but at least it's in Tottenham.
When you look at the finance costs, the Wembley costs and the missed rev of not playing in the new stadium, every single game hits the balance sheet hard I would love to know what the overall hit of the last 6 months has been but it cannot be small when you add the football operations losses to the costs of fixing the issues
Stoke and Blackburn got relegated, Bolton might go out of business and now Birmingham have a 9-point deduction. Is it little bit karma? Look, I don’t know.— Wenger Knows Best (@wengerknowsbest) March 23, 2019
Scary moment this but I wish people would stop saying that someone swallowed their tongue. It is nearly impossible to do that. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47684741
Schaer recovered quickly after further treatment from Swiss first-aiders, Swiss daily Blick reports, and was able to continue playing, helping set up Switzerland's second-half goals for their 2:0 victory. Incredible stupid
Will anyone ever learn??? "It looks awful. I can't remember anything," the Newcastle player told the paper after being shown video footage. "I was out for a few seconds. My skull is still humming. And I've got neck ache and a bruise on my forehead. But it was worth it."
Don't want you supporters of the Three Lions to get all crazy about your prospects in 2020 but...it is Montenegro.
Thing is, u see previous managers we laboured to 1-0 and 2-0 results Now we are scoring for fun with a very young team Things are looking good Still some way off France and Belgium etc but this is the best England have looked attacking wise, since 04 for me
Ole Gunnar announced as full time manager, hopefully that means his team can now relax and they fall off a cliff
