I would hope that is not the only box I fail to check in the ratings formula. Yes. Exactly. The only feasible one for us is MetroStars. We are Cedar Fair season pass holders, and I had wanted to couple the Cincy trip with a KI trip. Not this year.
Let's just say the last time I was at KI, I feel like Flight of Fear and the NASCAR movie/ride were things. Son of Beast has come and gone. The last time I was at Cedar Point in the summer, Millennium Force was considered new. I was up there a few years ago for OSU day, but most everything was closed due to weather. The drop coaster was still a year or two away and I really wanted to ride Maverick, but it was closed. I got to ride Dragster and MaXair. I think it was Gatekeeper's first or second year, but it was closed. I reckon WindSeeker is like any other swing ride...same experience on another swing eide with a smaller line. A buddy and I used that logic to bypass Power Tower in favor of Demon Drop one of the last times I was up there...we did the "blast to the top" Power Tower instead.
Honestly, a night at the cinema is likely a better decision. But, for some reason I'm making the 6 hour round trip. I have too much love to give.
The fiancée actually thought about planning a trip because my birthday is Saturday but we already had tickets to the NCAA games in Columbus on Friday and Sunday :’(
Well getting to congratulate you two lovebirds in person gives me another reason to get out to Columbus in the near future.
I live in LA and have a wedding back in Columbus on the 20th. A few months ago when booking my travel I decided to fly into Chicago on the 17th for the Crew game thinking I’d hop on NorOnTour to get to Columbus. I had some trouble getting a hold of NorOnTour, but recently heard they’d be cancelling the bus due to lack of interest. Knowing they’ll be moving to Soldier Field next year, I thought it would be cool as this is likely the last time the Crew will ever play in Bridgeview, where I’ve never been. Wondering if anyone may be driving up and back for the game who may want to pick up a stranger from the internet for the return trip. Happy to buy you lunch, provide gas money, snacks, etc. Alternative plan is just to grab a bus ticket from Chicago to Columbus on the 17th, but that means I’ll miss the game, which would be a bit of a bummer. So this is sort of a last ditch effort to get to see the storied soccer grounds of Bridgeview, Illinois before all is said and done and figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask around.
I have seen enough games at Bridgeview to say your romancing of the place is far too off. That being said, enjoy an away game.
Ha, definitely tongue in cheek, I don’t actually view Bridgeview as having a storied soccer history. But it is still an interesting piece of american soccer history and I’d like to see it.
I strongly suspect that, had the Crew away to Chicago match been on a Saturday and not a Wednesday, there would be much more interest. (Well, that and the fact that we suck this year.)
It's not even enough time for F!re fans to drive from Chicago to Bridgeview after work on weekday let alone Columbus.
I'm cool with them not bringing fans. Doc Brown voice: "They've caused nothing but disaster." It was back when they'd routinely bring 200 or whatever and they'd always get in fights, steal banners, etc. Anyway, we had them two consecutive weeks in a row here in Columbus, with one of the weeks being a USOC game. I think that game saw two of their fans with one flag. Then there was the 2006(?) finale vs them. To call that guy a "goon" would be an understatement.
I hope to see a few of you next week. I'm not expecting a large throng of Crew supporters being that it's a Wednesday game, but I doubt they'll be a throng of Fire supporters there, either.
