Carrascal is currently on a flight to Buenos Aires. If all goes well, it's going to be a loan deal with a 3 million euro buyout clause. Looks like the Ukranians didn't learn from Porto's mistake. :D

At this point, anything Carrascal can give us is a plus. Watching De La Cruz trying to fill Pity Martinez' boots is a tragic comedy. Tragedy for River fans, comedy for all the teams we play.

The pibe will need time to adapt, but the players he'll be competing with for playing time are SO BAD, I think he'll do pretty well (I say this without knowing anything about him obviously)

Pumas UNAM just inquired about the possibility of acquiring Nicolas de la Cruz on loan (Nacional and Banfield had also been interested in him earlier in the window)

I often laugh at Mexican clubs. I know the football there is complete garbage, but its just hilarious how some truly awful footballers end up there and on top of it are big stars. We always laugh about those who even end up on the national team.

Remember Juan Furch? A big, tall uncoordinated, blond #9 from Arsenal de Sarandi and Belgrano? You may not, he never did anything of note in Argentine football, he is a big star in mexico, along with countless others. His goalscoring record has jumped 10 fold since he was in our league.

Guido Rodriguez, remember him? The guy sin sangre who played a handful of games at River? He is a massive star and was even voted the best player in the league up there!

So, considering just how many average footballers make it big, i wouldn't be surprised if even De La Cruz could do it there

I see him quickly becoming a fan favorite similar to JuanFer because he loves to play to the crowd with tricky gambetas and funky juke moves.

Whether or not he can have an impact like JuanFer is a totally different story.
Not sure he has the physical tools nor the scoring abilities but the creativity is there.

Could go either way. River fans love attractive football, but can be very impatient if the player is too selfish and doesn't lift his head. Pity Martinez, for as much as he is an idol now, underwent yeaaars of extensive criticism from the fans for trying to do too much and not playing simple. In the end things worked out for him, but people used to want to lynch the guy and wouldn't want to see him anywhere near the lineup.

I guess the point is Carrascal's jukes and tricks will be appreciated if they lead to goals... but if the guy is just doing bicicletas and rabonas for no reason in the middle of the pitch without contributing to the team play, he'll get his fair share of critiques. Juan Fer didn't necessarily win the fans through tricky moves, but rather through his capabilities of controlling the game, setting up decisive through balls, scoring important goals, etc.

Thanks for the input, though. Hopefully the guy is a success. Colombians typically have a great time at River (Quintero, Falcao, Yepes, Carbonero, Teo, Borre, etc.). Lets add another one to the list.

No, he is crack..........actually would be a better fit for river than carrascal IMHO.

But aviles hurtado that goal to scorer there for example was shit here......there are more cases. Is funny how they think that they have a rivality with argentina too and tje arguments that they used is the poverty of our league and teams in south amerccia..........

Proud to be poor but competitive.......

Leon Gomez Ferreño, 18 year old promising forward from All Boys, has been incorporated to the reserves. There have been some very good things said about this kid.. We'll see...

Yeah, I know.. I was just kidding. It's a shame Benedetti went to America... hopefully his career doesn't stall. Pabon and Dayro Moreno are two that immediately come to mind for ruining their careers by moving to Liga MX. In a way it would kind of be better if he fails in America so he isn't "trapped" by the league.

By the way... how is our boy Cardona doing? :D

    ----
P.D. -- Che... nada que ver, pero que paso con un tal Sherman Cardenas? En un videojuego que jugaba hace como una decada era el crack de cracks, pero despues nunca mas volvi a oir de el.

Jorge Moreira has left on loan to the Portland Timbers

Kind of surprising since he’s the only natural RB in the squad, but I guess he’s fallen off so much that Gallardo even prefers Mayada (or a back line of 3) as an alternative for Montiel over the Paraguayan.

    In Muñeco we trust..

The only thing I don’t understand is why they always put such low buyout clauses ($1,500,000), especially when MLS teams have the finances necessary to move bigger numbers.

On a side note, D'Onofrio should get to renewing Julian Alvarez and Santiago Sosa's deals ASAP before they explode in Primera (both of their buyouts are currently set at 15 million)

Emelec has exercised Leandro Vega’s buyout clause after a successful loan spell.

The 22-year-old, who formed part of 3 youth NTs (U15, U17, U20) will permanently move to the Ecuadorian side for $1,200,000

Rennes (FRA) is interested in Lucas Martinez Quarta. Although the 22-year-old defender's release clause is fixed at €22,000,000, River would be willing to negotiate around the €12,000,000 mark.

In other news, difficulties have risen in the contract negotiations with Camilo Mayada. The 2-time Libertadores champion was expected to renew for months, but economic differences between the Uruguayan and River's board of directives have widened as he approaches the final two months of his contract. As of now, he'd be a free agent in June, with numerous teams already taking note. His market could open up even more if he goes to Copa America (he was recently called up for a friendly).
