Whatever happened to Barry Venison? I was sure something was going on between him and Gabby, I remember a lot of flirting.

Yeah something around 180 weeks ago. He’s made a apology apparently so hopefully it can be put it behind him and move forward.

    Yep.

There will be a small section of the fans who won't forgive him

Yep, just had a look on some social media and some are pretty unforgiving so it seems.

I wonder if it was an Irish fan stirring up shit, if so well done it worked. I come from Northern Irish stock, half catholic and half protestant and I'm not even baptised. It's all so silly. I get a little bit annoyed by the use of Londonderry rather than Derry but I can still recognise that giving a half decent interview to the BBC and fully supporting his right not to wear a poppy that James McClean comes over as a rather unpleasant piece of work. I've not seen the quote and I hope it's not too bad but Declan Rice wont be the last Anglo-Irish to say something silly about the IRA, the monarchy or whatever it may be to prove his roots. Just like the kid with the Jack in his room in Glasgow or Belfast saying stuff about the pope and pointing out how pervey the Roman Catholic church is.

I dont think he should have to apologise for tweeting something stupid as a kid but its sensible he has. Those who wont be able to forgive (assuming it not to rotten, such as mocking a bereaved victim or something like that) were never going to like him in the first place. I blame the "******** the Pope" chant.

Rashford won’t play in either game. Has gone back to his club.

    Pickford will start in goal.

Southgate thinks both Sancho and CHO are ready. Has no hesitation of playing either.

The Rice post is at worst a silly act from a kid from what I can see. It seemed obvious to be a joke type comment among his at the time team mates.

It is pretty amazing that people keep getting caught out by old messages. Surely agents should be all over this stuff.

Ok, I understand that the Rashford pullout is unfortunate but there was obvious question marks whether he would be fit so with all the other withdrawals going on ( 7 I think ) I just wish that Southgate would have called up a few more bodies for cover. Really don’t get the philosophy surrounding replacements.

Is no one getting worried that some players are seeing england as a distraction and wanting to concentrate on their clubs?

Also I think odoi should start alongside sancho

not really. More just that club football is brutal in the Christmas > March period and it kills players. Rashford has basically left every game in the last 2/3 months with a limp.

Just imagine how Grealish must be feeling with all the injuries and these pull-outs yet he’s still not getting a call up :(

Most likely scenario is Sancho, Kane and Sterling starting with Hudson-Odoi coming off the bench. Which is pretty damn good by any standards.

I'm sure he appreciates that while playing in the championship there are going to be multiple players ahead of him till he can prove himself at a better level.

He will also know that he’s got more natural talent than all the others though ..

In which case its up to him to show he has the capability and mentality to be more than a big fish in a small pond. Grealish is doing nothing the likes of Koumas haven't done before him. Wonderfully gifted but proving you can do it in the premier is a different ball game completely.

Not gonna knock the guy for staying loyal to Villa, but staying in the championship is always going to be a limitation on his international future - i'm sure he appreciates that.

He did very well in the Premiership and he was very young then ...
but stayed loyal to Villa when they got relegated - credit to him for that .

Can we ban the G word for a while?
Grealish won't be in the squad until he plays in the Prem. Get used to it. End of.

Na ... I’ll persevere with him.. there’ve been many players selected from Championship/ Second division over the decades . I’m wondering if there’s either history between the two or maybe Southgate doesn’t trust him after all the bad press he’s had over the years

He might want to put pressure on Grealish for a move, knowing the player could waste his entire career at Championship level due to loyalty.

This could be the perfect opportunity to cap Abraham.

It doesn't reflect well on him but at the same time he was a 15 or 16 year old kid born in '99 without much concept of what he was talking about probably trying to ingratiate himself into a group of Irish lads. If there was greater public record of all the things I said at that age then I'd probably be totally unemployable.

Aston Villa recent form with/without Grealish

    With Grealish - WWWDWD

    Grealish injured - DLWDDLDWDDLLD

Grealish back from injury - WWWW

    With P10 W8 D2 Ppg 2.6
    Without P13 W2 D7 L4 Ppg 1

And from what I've seen of them, those stats do tell the story to just how good he is.

But can see why not called up this time, but he has to be in the summer - he is just so good. If Villa don't go up he'll go to a top club and excel.

Thank you for those stats ... I was aware that he does make a difference..

After his layoff didn’t he make his comeback against Birmingham and scored the Goal of the season after a few minutes back ..
