Pixies were great back in the day but should never have reunited. They seem to be more popular today for the music they released in the late 80s than they were in the late 80s.
I agree with your middle point. But, I think the band was great while Deal was still a member. If you want to see an early nineties band reunion done right look no further than Slowdive. That's another band whose influence was felt more keenly after they had broken up. But, their 2017 lp and subsequent live shows were great. I can't wait to see what they cook up next. (That reminds me that I'm due to record a mix for my podcast soon.)
You might try a train for that. You can get good deals on the weekend for a family (multiperson ticket)--especially given that they both are in Bavaria.
Damn, you guys are more “hipster” than the dreadful Austin 6. The Pixies are f-ing awesome and while I love Deal and her work after she left, it was still great being able to watch such a legendary influential band. Weezer has been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid. So again, it was great to see them live.
I can remember a time when you could see all of them (except the Smiths) at Lollapalooza. Personally, I like all these bands, and the Pixies, and Weezer, and the Breeders, Jane's Addiction, and just about any Punk Band from the era. And I will and have gone to their concerts recently. Any of those bands are better than Journey or Def Leppard, both of which a) suck, b) seem to have been elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, c) have conned many of my friends and former classmates trying to clutch onto the last vestiges of their youth into paying exorbitant sums to see them live, and d) really, really suck.
I've seen the Pixies 5 times and they still play with the same energy they did back in the day. Saw them with Weezer at Blossom Music Center this past summer and it was a great show. I also saw the Breeders not too long ago and they were also amazing. To each their own, I guess. Personally, I could never get behind Pearl Jam, but plenty of people love them as Grunge-alt-rock icons.
It's odd that you would say that. Virtually anyone that has really followed Weezer's career would say they have pretty much mailed it in since after Pinkerton. Just recycling old ideas, and pop kitsch for videos. But, it's certainly not the first time you have taken a bold stance and been directly on the wrong side of the issue.
I have only one bone to pick with the Slowdive reunion.... Mojave 3 was my favorite Neil Halstead project. Out of Tune and Excuses for Travelers are two of my most played albums of my 20's and 30's. And this Slowdive reunion, while great, essentially killed off Mojave 3.
Interesting. Maybe you should worry less about others tYpEOs and worry more about communicating your own point more effectively.
Is this the way you like to start your days? Being a dick? Dont't bother replying, it's a rhetorical question and I'm not interested in further cluttering the boards with your particular kind of egotistical rantings.
It's ok. The key on the laptop I used to type that is FUBAR and hang needs as many easy wins as he can get now that we've got 7 of 9 points so far.
Good morning James! When you "I'm not interested in further cluttering the boards with your egotistical ramblings," is that meant to be "precisely literal" in this case? Or do you just like starting your days playing keyboard commando and convincing yourself you had the last word?
If you want. But I've learned not to concern myself too much with thus affirmation from others I've found the greatest love of all inside of me. The greatest love of all is easy to achieve. Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all.
