actually, i'm here lurking almost everyday..i just don't post.. i think the last time i posted was in the germany match thread
Lee just had a header on target, but was denied by Celtic goalkeeper. Announcers are praising him. Imo this was the best game from Lee so far.
Watched a ball touch video (too lazy to find link) and I've got to say, this kid is impressing the hell out of me. He had 2 through passes in particular that only KSY has the mental capacity to see. It's not saying much but there's a reason why Valencia is getting hype about LKI.
I saw the last 15 minutes of the match. He looked good out there. Nice passes, good movement off the ball.
Yep. Love the long passes from the right wing to the centre/left wing too. This kid is crazy talented, I just hope Valencia loan him out to a midtable La Liga team that can play him consistently (either as early sub or starter) so he can play games every week. Right now Valencia being the 4th richest Spanish club after the Big 3, have tons of great attacking options and it might be unlikely we see Lee played much there.
Not sure how buyout clauses work.. but is the only way he can permanently leave is if a club pays 80mill euros for him????
Yeah, unless he and his agent renegotiates for a new contract without a buyout clause or to lower the clause. I have no idea why he and his agent accepted such an expensive buyout clause in his contract.
think it's more about Valencia protecting their asset than anything. at his age, they think they are protecting him right now. everyone else is chomping at the bit for him to get mins, but we'll see how this pans out. main issue now, is reg playing time, plain and simple. a loan is to the benefit of not only the player, but for Valencia as well in terms of his development. hopefully this will sort itself out in time for next season.
he clearly has the skill set to warrant playing time to some degree. I hope the manager is genuine in wanting to protect him but the fans are afraid that this might become a repeat of Isco scenario.
The buyout clause isn't a minimum that has to be met for a sale. It's the minimum at which Valencia are required to allow the buying club to talk to LKI. They can let clubs talk to LKI for less, at their discretion. Also trigger a release clause doesn't guarantee a transfer since it only opens the way for personal terms to be discussed. IIRC, Valencia wanted the high release clause in his most recent contract, so LKI and his agent negotiated a better upfront salary than he normally would have gotten.
It's not his agents fault that he has a buyout clause. Due to Spanish regulations, every single footballers (at least at the professional level) has a buyout clause. Also, it's very common for key youth players to have ridiculously high buyout clauses. His teammate Ferran Torres has an even higher buyout clause of 100m, which is double the size of their captain's.
According to Goal’s NXGN, Lee Kang In is ranked 28 for the best Wonderkid. But Timothy Weah (17) and Ferran Torres (12) are ranked higher. Personally Timothy Weah shouldn’t be ranked that high and certainly higher than Lee. Also you can make an argument Lee has more potential than Torres.
