Jaeckel helped keep the clean sheet, seems to have cemented himself in XI although as a DM, when we need cbs for next U21 cycle. While Thalhammer, Reese, and Fohrenbach also were XI players. Fein is still injured/unfit.

feels like for now Eredivisie might be a better option. An Eredivisie club could start him up top more often than any 1BL club would. Look at Isak who's a 99 (only 1 year older than Arp). 1BL on the other hand very doubtful any club would use him beyond sub appearances unless mass injuries pop up or no other striker is performing. Relies too much on those things. And there isn't any 1BL club in Germany that starts strikers that are younger than 20s.

Eredivisie is still top flight football and good place for the dev of youngsters too.

concerning strikers, have to say, development wise nothing seems convenient in Germany, even more reason as to why we struggle to develop any properly.

majority of clubs only play 1 uptop, there is also a lack of loan options too. 1BL clubs in general don't really loan out to each other strikers. Then you go to 2BL and in their it's mostly late 20s/early 30s guys who in general aren't good enough for 1BL.
You look at this season and Reese/lyoha are the only ones on loan from 1BL, seems to be it......

best hope for any striker is when your so rated by your club that they have a plan for you guys like Selke, Werner, J.Eggestein, D.Otto, Arp, Burkardt, Malone etc. When there is no plan (or no real plan) you get put in II until one usually leaves or they just leave post U19.

even young ones like Serra and Florian Kruger who went permanent transfer to 2BL. If they move to 1BL later on, what's the likelihood they'll even start? Or is it more likely to get taken by 1BL clubs to have more options uptop? Since Schalke does have a buyback on Kruger and they have new coach, will be interesting to see whether they fix their mess in next few years.

it's why its such a freaking long process to get new strikers to the senior NT.

Report: Newcastle and West Ham keeping tabs on wonderkid Erkan Eyibil

Turkish Football have claimed that both Newcastle United and West Ham United are both interested in signing Mainz 05 youngster Erkan Eyibil in the summer.

The 17-year-old is the shining light in Mainz’s youth sides. He scored 27 goals and created the same amount of assists in just 47 matches for the Bundesliga club’s Under-17 side.

He was promoted to the club’s Under-19 side this season and has continued his marvelous form. Indeed, Eyibil has scored 12 goals and 5 assists in 18 games – including a hat-trick in his last appearance during a 6-1 win over Frankfurt.

Turkish media have labelled Eyibil as the new Mesut Ozil, as he plays in attacking midfield and produces excellent vision and goalscoring qualities week in, week out.

how about he just breakthrough Mainz 1st team instead???

Waldschmidt Interview talking about Germany Youth NT, fighting relegation, coaches etc.
    https://www.dfb.de/en/news/detail/w...ache=1&cHash=70e4b1cf84a5ed5c3b3fbdd11db984c1

always forget that Waldschmidt was a Frankfurt player. One of the last who jumped from U19 to 1st team. He's one striker I feel got lucky tbh, that 3 1BL clubs were into him. Didn't work out at either Frankfurt nor HSV but was able to strive when he moved to Freiburg in Summer 2018. Although believe it's due to both Frankfurt and HSV fighting relegation in his time there. Last season he always showed plenty of glimpses of potential just no end product and mostly a sub too. But truth is HSV has been a garbage club at developing players over the last few seasons anyways.

and some strikers end up like Waldschmidt in 1BL, might not work at the 1st few clubs but its all about someone believing in your potential and taking the chance. His case is more rare from what I see, usually one sees players not working at a club ending up in 2BL when they leave their 1st club but he was able to play his whole career in 1BL.

seems like no one is ever fit, no replacement has been called up for him. Well anyways just friendly in a squad that is nowhere near the best one, still experimental phase.

I feel like we have yet to play with the best possible 03s, players always seem missing as it's about giving as many players chances as possible.

Will be more interesting next season and Germany lost bye to Elite Round status (good thing) so we play qualifiers in Fall 2019.By then Gencoglu will be back from his long term injury which seems on track for a Summer comeback from him.

00-Mercan training with the 1st team for the first time. Once again shows that we ignore players who seem closer to 1st teams while calling up players headed to II. I'm surprised that Turkey hasn't poached him yet. They poached Kutucu and just this month Can who used to be German youth NT player. 3 rated Turks at Schalke and only 1 left for Germany to use in Mercan and another who jumped to 1st team this season.

real surprise is that Mercan has never even been called up to a dfb camp...

I think dev wise staying at least another season at Freiburg is not a bad idea. This is his breakthrough season, he needs more consistency. A big move now could end up being more bad than good. Although attacking/midfield wise those 3 clubs are ahead of Freiburg, so more service.

but it does feel like Freiburg will struggle to keep Waldschmidt in long run at their club and Kleindienst seems headed out.

makes me wonder if their will be room for Daferner/Nieland/Pieringer either this Summer 2019 or 2020?

00-Hottmann interview, also talks about School and DFB.

You are 1.87 m tall, weigh 89 kg - your physique should be your biggest asset.
Yes. My massive playing style brings me there already advantages. I can tie the balls well. I work in all areas - and push extra layers.

    Extra layers?
For example, with our assistant coach Daniel Teufel, I often practice goal completions in the morning. In addition, I personally work for myself in terms of stability, mobility and explosiveness.

Can you still work the most on agility?
Yes, but also on other things, such as getting on the ball and on the first contact.

Do you have a role model?
Mario Gomez has always been my idol.

Some compare with HSV attacker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
He is also a brawny striker, the style of play, we are certainly similar.

How long is your contract with VfB and have there been any discussions in which team you will play next season?
My contract with VfB goes beyond this season. I'm getting out of A-Youth this summer. Conversations, in which team I play, did not exist yet. I leave that alone, continue to focus on my performance and want to do my part to achieve our goals this season.
    https://www.stuttgarter-nachrichten...rnt.17cbf2aa-c202-4127-a75e-ad3d6c9e2c56.html

I think Hottmann is picking it up more and more as the season goes by wonder if he'll get Stuttgart 1st team chances? Also not shocking that Stuttgart legend Gomez is his role model, they are pretty not far off from the same height and Gomez could mentor him too.

Stuttgart U19 in the cup final: These are the greatest talents of VfB (only looking at U19 players).
    1. 01-Aidonis
Antonis Aidonis was allowed to participate twice in the first round in the professionals. Currently, the trained central defense is no longer needed because of the increase in performance of the professional defensive, but the extremely robust 17-year-old is certainly a promising addition. In the A-juniors, the defensive specialist is absolutely set.

    2. 01-Dajaku
Another player who appears again and again in the professional circle is Leon Dajaku. The only 17-year-old was also pleased in the first round over two short appearances. The final breakthrough seems only a matter of time, after all, the youngster can show impressive numbers. In 22 competitive matches, the tricky offensive player was already involved in 16 matches.

    3. 00-Hottmann
Even more accurate than Dajaku is only Eric Hottmann. The center forward scored ten goals in the A-junior Bundesliga South / Southwest and thus contributed significantly to the fact that the Swabians currently occupy second place in the table with only one point behind the U19 of the 1. FSV Mainz 05.

    4. 01-Lockl
You should also remember the name Per Lockl. The 18-year-old has nine appearances for the German U17 national team and is known in central midfield for his great ball safety and calm. In the 4-0 victory against the Freiburg the blond could also contribute his second goal in the cup competition.

    5.02-Egloff
Asked about the greatest talents of VfB, VfB CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger said in January that he would also give Lilian Egloff good opportunities. The attacking midfielder has recently made a big step in development and seems pretty mature despite his youthful age. But since the jewel is only 16 years old, it is gently introduced.

    6.00-Kleinhansl
On the left defender position of the U19 Florian Kleinhansl is absolutely set. For professionals, this position has been occupied for many years by the veteran Emiliano Insua, but the Argentinian is not getting any younger. Even his designated successor summer newcomer Borna Sosa could not convince. If the 18-year-old German continues to develop, he too could be a serious option in the future.

embarrassing 1-1, of course it had to be a long distance shot.

Germany struggling to breakthrough the parking of the bus and way too many chances are close to the GK.

feel like strangling these kids.:p Missing open nets, shooting point blank range. These kids are terrible shots, could easily have been 5-0. Still not sure why Lemperle and company were left out....

I think we can’t beat teams which parked their buses

Senior team, 2001, 2002, 2003 (now without Gedikli, Gunther n Matanovic)

Big issue in Germany nowadays. U need a dominant centre forward

no we can beat them if the kids were more efficient, game could easily have been 5-0.All I see is terrible shots everywhere.
we are lucky that best 7 2nd place teams out of 9 also qualify and the group isn't too complicated.

as for 2003, they are only playing friendlies.
